Nitrate and phosphate undetectable. Hair algea still growing

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
it seems to be clearing up. the blenny is pretty cool. i picked up a court jester goby also, my son wanted it. he is cool too.

i tested my magnisuim and it was a little low. slowly raising it up to around 1300ppm. it tested around 1000.

at this rate i might have to start feeding the blenny, all the algae may be gone in a week or 2.

i still havent seen my peppermint shrimp in about a week. i hope they are alright.

I think thats pretty normal. My peppermint shrimp can be seen in the LR structure if you really contort your neck into shapes to try and silloute them, but they absolutely refuse to come out during the day. Use a red light after the tank lights have been out for a while at night, and you will likely see them, along with any other nocturnal beings you may have.

You may even see the lawnmower burried in the substrate, as they tend to do that at night.

Not uncommon, they are devistating to algea. What do you feed the goby?

Good to see your checking :)

You could pic up some nori sheets from any petstore, and just feed it to your blenny with a letus clip.

Not unusual, alot of shrimp hide during the day, even cleaners if you give them a hole, though they will pop out to clean fish.

Glad to hear that your tank is doing well though.

i always use ro/di water for salt mix and top off. tds meter reads 58 in and 0 out.

the goby seem to picking at algea for the most part. i drop in some algae flakes and he seemed to like that. he also ate some brine shrimp and i just bought some frozen mysis, i heard they like that.

Cool just making sure. Algae spores get carried in tanks through untreated water alot of the time. Saltwater goes through some rough algae stages in the first few months. just wait for the red slime...fun. if your lookin for a shrimp to look at get a cleaner shrimp they are alot more active during the day and actually benefit the fish. peppermints are more nocturnal and will eventually nip at corals but you can watch them pretty good with some LED moonlights though.

Thats good, they are omnivores so they need both veggi and meaty. mysis, pods, and brines are always good, though try to use more pods/mysis as brines arent very nutritional.

hair algae is nearly gone. ive been dropping in a few algea wafers just in case. if the fish dont eat them the craps have been. tried some mysis and the clowns dont seem to like them, they mostly like hikari marine-s .

it looks like ive got some red slime growing. but not too bad. yet

Some people have reported their lawnmower eating red algae. I dont know if they are lucky or lying, but I have yet to observe it.

Maybe you will be lucky.

he does go to the rear glass and try to eat it. well see.

looks like a may have an outbreak of aiptasia anemones. mostly on the live rock. a few of them are large and when u get near them they retract into the rock. maybe ill get some pictures of them tonight. if it is aiptaisa i need to get rid of them fast.

still no signs of peppermint shrimp being alive. well over a week i havent seen them.
