I totally agree! they should totally have a UFC vs. Pride or Strikeforce or whatever. Dana is always saying that he lets the fights speak..... so why not let the fights speak that UFC is the best of the best?
because if a "Champion" gets beat, technically the belt is no longer in the UFC and should rightfully go to the fighter in the other promotion. Have to keep the championships in the company, otherwise the next champions get a raft of **** about not earning the belt and what not.

Yeah but with the mob connection Fedor does not seem to have much choice in his career direction.

make if for the WAMMA belt and not the UFC belt...that would be hard to negotiate on the fedor side, though

The one and only time dana tried something similiar, he took Chuck to japan and fought in a pride tournament. promised up and down and talked all loads of crap that chuck was gonna run through the pride competition. needless to say, rampage took care of that thought.

screw the stupid belt,it really doesn't mean anything compared to what the person does to earn it. just have a no title match and there you are! problem solved!

yeah, and then of course dana had to sign him so he could say that ufc has the best of the best. dana is a great businessman though and you really can't deny that. i just don't know if he's doing it at the expense of the fights

You can fight a champ without fighting for the belt. Look at the Gracie Vs. Hughes fight. It was not a title fight even though Matt had the belt.

I suppose lesnar could just no cut weight and then he couldn't put the belt on the line. I am sure many would be fine with that.;)

There is no way ther would ever be a joint promotion for any fights, let alone championship fights.
Dana is worried (and rightfully so) if one of his guys lost and then all of the attention would go to the other fighter, and that promotion. It's basically free promotion for a rival company. This is why the UFC has the champion kicker clause in their fighters contracts.

Please explain this more? and where you got the info? I've never heard of this. But I don't know much of anything about the UFC contracts.
