Thanks Dave. All the rest of the fish are way too big to be eaten, only worry is the harlequin rasboras, which is what's holding me back. I have about 34 of them in there that are doing pretty well with the bigger fish and no one's even noticing them.

How much is the fish? Will the store accept a return even if you don't get a refund or credit? Red heads are fairly common. I think it's a red head.

I haven't asked. I don't believe it's beyond my reach and I don't really care about losing a few quid over a fish. I've been in good terms with the owner for years and I am pretty sure he'll accept it back as we have a very good relationship. I actually brought them cherry shrimp only last weekend.

The problem is me. I take on a fish, I have a hard time bringing it back. You see the conditions it would go back to....and you should see the other shoppers...with the kids that point a finger to the fish they want....

I saw a family with two small kids twice lately that brought their kids to bang on the glass, the kids having fun, so did the parents. They just walked in as if it were a zoo....The shop owner is pretty nice that way, ignoring. If it were me, I'd kick them out but the crisis really did hit them over the last few years. They let go of all their workers, not managing the tanks well but managed to be one of the few fish shops around that are still going. I've seen the shop flourishing lately and I am glad, some nice fish being brought again, more filtration, substrate in some tanks, etc..

So yes, he'll take the fish on and I can ask him upfront about it as well. When my tanks broke 3 years ago he offered to give me temporary totes and he's made a deal for me on my shopping many times, online prices like..That's why I keep going back.

And obviously, I do want that particular fish.
I am having an internal online struggle here :uhoh: I just don't want a bully in my tank either. He's small and active looking fish, no danger to any fish right now but he'll grow up...So I wonder what will he grow up to become....
 
There is a chance he will learn that fish are friends not food.

Yeah I would say he is most certainly a red head Tapajos. I have a small colony That I grew up from little guys. They are one of my favorite fish. Although they really enjoy having other RHT, he will be fine by himself too. As long as he has other fish to keep him company, and the right sort of environment which I think you have. They are very active fish. Mine also had yellow streaks/still do have some yellow in them amongst other colours. really pretty.

I wouldn't be to concerned about him eating your smaller fish, of course each fish is different and there is a chance, but I have kept mine with very small fish before. tiny yellow lab fry, neon tetras and cardinals and they have never gone for them. Even when I have been away on holiday for a few days and they have skipped meals. Really peaceful fish.

I mean like white lines in the caudal fin.
We call it flamed fin.
Its hard to see but the fish he maybe will buy has a pointed fin.
Better fin picture would Help.
Maybe the fin pattern will change as it grows.
