Non-Fader Red Texas Juvie

Dont see why everyone is mad petsmart has rt and fh these are hybrids that can really suprise you. All my hybrids except 1 were bought as quality fh and rt i have a fading rt looks good 3 inches. I have 1 rt 1 inch from petsmart that looks better than all my rt i orderd and better than the ones you have posted on this thread. What does it matter where a hybrid comes from its not like the exsist in the wild.
I dont mind arguing this in my thread. I guess my main points are I know the quality of the parent fish, they both display traits I want the offspring to inherit so i cull accordingly. I intend on growing them as large as I can as kind of a quality control type deal. If you cant understand the difference compare it to something else. Would you choose to buy a dog from a specialized breeder or a large pet store / puppy mill?
I also highly doubt your petsmart rt comes anywhere near this fish lol. It's like 1.5" pal you are barely seeing the start of this thing. Thanks for you kind words and encouragement though lol. I thought my stance towards breeding, trading, and selling hybrids in an ethical manner would be a benefit to the hybrid community but Im learning my side is not very popular. I guess anybody with $6.99 and a petsmart near their house is an expert now :( .

Don't worry Chris I will contine growing that fish as well as the other oddballs. I think it may turn out nice just hoping its got a decent color.

I don't think people are really believing that Petsmart red texas are the real deal. There may be a few mixed in that actually are red texas, there have been a couple posts showing a fish that looks like a real red texas so far, but that's been the exception to the rule here. I think people are just excited at the idea of getting a cheap fish that may grow out to be a great fish, it's a gamble, and for the price they like the idea.

Back to your fish, I really like the red spots coming out, even in your cr@ppy photo as you say, the spots still show. Get some more pics up!

Thanks bud. I will be doing some better photos and a video during this next sort.
I understand wanting to save money but with $10 king kamfa fry out there why bother with petsmart lol.

With overnight shipping that $10 fish turns into $50+ fish which some people might not be inclined to do.

Whats really funny is that lots of people who don't know much about Flowerhorn automatically assume that King Kamfa is the pinnacle of Flowerhorn. King Kamfa are nice but they are not the best. And even a $10 King Kamfa fry isn't guaranteed to be a master piece.

I can't speak for the other people in the forum but me personally, the only reason I am taking a change on those fish are because they seem to be coming out similar to Classic Kamfa. And I really dig Classic Kamfa. If one comes out like I am looking for then great, if it doesn't then no big deal because its a small amount of money. I have spent significantly more money on ordering Flowerhorn and shortly after getting deciding its not what I was looking for. I would rather spend less than $30 gambling on fish than spending $100-200+.

Its funny how smug your coming across with your Red Texas and how their are not Petsmart fish but to be completely honest, they are nothing special. I think its time you step down from your high horse sir.

I have no intention of coming across as smug sorry. I just see the availability of so many low quality hybrids at big box stores as something that is not good for the flowerhorn keeping community. With all this buzz about these fish on here recently there have been some crazy posts (I'm sure you know what I'm talking about).
I disagree with your trashing my fish though. I'm confident in my selection of breeders and have my next few moves planned out with these guys. I'm seeing some great stuff and these guys are still small... I fully understand wanting to get something good for cheap but also urge people to buy from breeders who deal exclusively on this stuff. If they are not supported they will disappear.

I have to agree with you on the breeders vs petsmart opinion but I like to think I'm saving these fish from certain death even if they are low quality mutts... I actually have had the worst luck with fish from these stores as they are constantly infected with parasites and disease... I treat them to a bath of levamisole and salt and they usually do ok. But 80%+ of all the fish I have had from them died and I think those are actually the only fish I have ever had die! Lol! They sell fish that grow to 3ft + and don't tell people they get that big...

I think that every fish is different to everyone who looks at it... I see Flowerhorns that look just like the ones down at the LFS for 30 bucks going for 400 on Auqabid... who buys these fish?

The selections/prices at the LFS vs the big box store are ussualy better, another factor is LFS has better quality, and healthier fishes. Buying sick/low quality FH, or RT from Pestmart often ends up costing more to care for.

Thats a load of crap and has absolutely no basis. And as I said before thats not always the case, for example if your local store orders their from Segrest Farms (which is one of the more popular wholesales) then you are getting the exact same fish Petsmart is getting. Another thing is that Petsmart hasn't been selling them long of for a statement like that to mean anything, sure you get a few cases where there are sick fish but that can easily be said about any store.
