Normal ray behavior

I originally thought of a sump but when i went to a hardwear store i was looking for a pump that pumps water 24 hours a day and i found all these expensive ones for like 70 -170 dollars. I said i wasn't going to buy that so i just bought 2 filters [which you stated earlier were 40-60gallon sized], anyone suggeset a good easy cheap pump for me? Other than the pump i have everything else, sponge, fiber balls, some charcoal, and the tubing and container with holes already drilled.

You were told to find a used pump if possible to suit your budget, so I hope you did, because I'm really worried as to why you haven't moved all of your filtration over to the 320 yet. You don't have to cycle it if you don't add any fish and you transfer it over to the big tank (that you said you have already cycling). And I'm not sure what you're cycling with unless you got 2 more of the same filter that you had before, but why wouldn't you just move the used ones over for instant cycle?

And you also said you were having green water problems .. until you figured out that your filter pad was just dirty :(

I'm not really sure how your water could be perfect :(
 
Ik in the past i got the tank but the fish isn't in there. My dad flipped out when i tryed to move him as he has the stinger and everything and he told me just to wait till he gets bigger and doesn't want to deal with it now. I got more filters and he is doing fine but just wanted to see if i am doing something wrong. My water is now clear and i do more frequent water changes. Right now in the 320 i just put oscars and pacus and simple fish in there for the time being.

unless you're running a large sump, i can guarantee your filtration is underpowered for that long of a haul without clean water. you continue skimping and your fish will end up getting sick/dying.

do the responsible thing or get rid of the fish.

edit: as for plants, you won't fit enough plants in your tank to do much of anything, considering the ray needs to be able to swim on the ground without clutter and will be uprooting all of your plants just for fun.

The ray is flat so i don't need to move him out and the Jar i keep him in a big bag but he doesn't come on of the tank so wen i add the water back in he goes up and i realease him after the wc is done.
 
ok, a few things you should do different.
Do a water change twice a week. At least 50% each time.
You do not want to keep catching your fish and doing wather changes. You are putting more stress on them and that will lead to death.
Also, do not,, again, do not do a 100% wather change. You take the chance of shocking your system. 50% twice a week is the way to go.
Every week....without fail..

Im not sure what filters you are running, but if your getting green water, you need to clean them better. (make sure you clean in tank water, not tap)
Or, get a different filter system.
I would also upgrade to the larger tank. Swap the fish around.
And it would be easier now to net the ray than when he is bigger. Trust us on that.

I also want to stress. If you take on the choice of having a ray, you have to understand their needs and how important it is in water changes and feedings..

that is, quite possibly, the most stupid thing i've heard concerning rays.
do you realize how much stress that causes on the fish, not to mention your system? take all of our advice and do multiple smaller water changes a week or face the loss of your fish due to said stress or system shock.
might i ask what kind of filtration you have on your tank? it doesn't seem like nearly enough from the sounds of it.
 
okay okay, i only do a 100 percent water change very few times. Like before i go on a 3 week trip or something. I have friends to feed them. I usually don't do it and i only asked wat about it. Srry if i offended some ray lovers like me. This is my first ray...

Lol, this isn't even about rays. You shouldn't be doing 100% changes at all to any fish. If you need to do them, then your filter system is severely underrated.
