MY PIKE IS IN TRIPIcal temps. its not that had to convert him just like two weeks and i think her actually looks better and he is really active and growing fast
all so in your sig. it says bigmouth bass shouldnt it say largemouth bass. It also says you live in texas so how in the heck did you get a pike? sounds more like a chain pickerel to me.

wow there was alot of wrong things said in this thread, ha pike are not the fastest freshwater fish. Oh well its an old thread

i agree on the wrong stuff it is funny...the never 50lbs pike in canada...there was a guy that caught a 30+ pike and when bringing it in something grabbed it...after a long battle the fish let go...there were single bite marks on it so he took it to the dnr to see if it was a pike or muskie...i guess they can tell by the teeth spacing...they said it was a pike, they estimated the size at 60"+ thats bigger then 50lbs....the teeth were like 12" across for the width of the mouth

i no too many british anglers who will bbq pike on sight compered to that it would be a better life. besides i wast trying to find out how far south they appear in america... if a fish's nautral range includes high water temps, i see no problem in converting its british cousin to do the same? we are talking about 1 of the most prominent fish in the worlds northern waterways....

Esox lucius are found in almost every type of freshwater, from cold deep lakes, to warm shallow ponds, to muddy rivers. Having a broad range of tolerances for water temperature, clarity, and oxygen content allows E. lucius to be "one of the most adaptable freshwater species"(Steinberg,1992.pg.20)

i live in new england and in the local pond i have caught chain pike and that water is fairly warm in the summer it gets to 70 degree and that pond in the winter freezes over that my two cents hope it helps
