Not a whisper about the ACA?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The banner ad for the show has been on the right hand side of this page for the last year.

That's the trouble with signs is after a few days no one notices them anymore. Last year there were several threads in this section to promote it. Anyway mute point now it's over.

The day for deals, is the Sunday (today) auction. At the ones I've been to in the past, sales went on into the night.
Had to work myself and couldn't be there, but am interested to hear what was going on today?

went sat. ran the suttle bus for The Reef had a great time. picked up some super red gold severums, met alot of great people. there were alot of great deals just wish I had more money to blow lol

My home club (CCA) hosted in last year, so there was more work than fun.

This year's was amazing and the CCAS did a great job! I don't know how many attended but there were over 400 bidder cards for the Sunday auction.

You don't hear much during the convention because everyone attending is just so busy. There is stuff going on - WORLD class speakers, kids decoratring contest, silent and live auctions, field trips, free food and beer (and live music!) in the hospitality suite - from literally sunrise until 3, 4, 5 AM (if you want).

Disappointed in the fish available? Did you check out the "for sale" board of people selling from their rooms? The ACA website for pre-sale stuff? Go on the trip to Rusty Wessel's place (where he auctioned off fish that are offspring of fish that he collected)...Inquire whether anyone was bringing fish that you were interest in? All of the fish in the (dozen-ish) display tanks were sold to the highest bidder.... A buddy of mine bought bunches of uber-rare Madagascar fish for under $100. You can lead a horse to water...

So I've seen one thread on the ACA forum that shows some fish. There have got to be more...what fish won awards? Everyone who attended has had a few days back now.

I went up for one day on Saturday. I had a small "wish" list and I got everything on it. (Paracyprichromis nigripinnis, Protomelas marginatus, Syno catfish and a couple of replacement filters). I don't necessarily think the con was smaller (i've only ever been to Cincy cons before) but the venue was quite large. Things may have seemed more sparse then they actually were. I think there was a good bit of sales in rooms this year, as opposed to the rental tank room. That contrasts I think with the 2010 con in Cincy where I think there was more action in the rental room. Asking prices did some a little high to me on some things but most people I dealt with were willing to work with me on prices. But I thought the vendor room was great, there was a great diversity of vendors. Like I mentioned, I was there on Saturday only, and I heard from some guys that the buying/selling was pretty fast and furious on Thursday and Friday.
