What the hell??????

Good thing the OP doesn't have this...............problem :)

"Oh darn it's going to cost a lot to run all those pumps"..............:screwy:

Larger tanks do cost more, but per gallon, they cost significantly less than a smaller tank. I would look into a 230V pump and a very large sump. Go fresh water of course and look into a trickle 24/7 water change system. Simple shop lights for lighting.
Stocking: Peacock bass grow real fast! Then throw in some dithers like Bala's and Silver Dollars. On the bottom I would go with a Niger maybe a few common Plecko's. Hard to over stock this baby but fun to try ;)

price per gal yes your right .. less then the 4 tanks i have up and running .. but still has to cost a lot .. maybe less then i am thinking .. but still not cheep to run a big boy like that ..

It wouldn't cost half of what you figured to run it... :screwy: I would say 3000 watts of heating would be more than enough, and MAYBE 400 watts for a high GPH pump. Would probably cost about $100-$140 to run at California's prices, anywhere else is usually a lot cheaper.

In fact, I just used a calculator, and even with the heater running ALL the time, it would only be $70... When in fact, with those insulated acrylic walls, they would only be running about 1/3 that time. So I'd figure about $25 for heating.

With the pump it came out to $30.

Note: this is all with an energy price of $0.11 cents per kWh.

So about $70 a month would be the MOST it would cost IMO if you figure in any surprises and even in winter months...

I wouldn't worry about the electrical as of yet... there may be other reasons for selling it.

Are you in possession? LEAK TEST ??!!??

holy crap. awsome deal. my 140 was over 1000 but the store gave me it for 885. be built a stand. my 180 w as a trade for a 550 dollar 120 gallon(the other guy lost out uin that trade lol) my 90g waas 450, 55 was a trade for a coral. 36bow was 100. suse u got a friggen amazing deall. ill trade u my 180 for it... lol

Welcome to MFK Kubota! Here is one thing you could try. Have all your friends on one side of the aquarium and lift one side up to the stand. Once the one side of the tank is up on one end of the stand, have all your friends lift the other side of the tank to the height of the stand. While holding the tank on one side (while the other side is on the stand) of the stand, place 4X4 as support under the tank. Slide / push the tank into position on the stand. That's what I did by myself on my 300 gallon tank, and it is acrylic 3/8" thick and was VERY HEAVY. You and your 8 friends should be able to do it. Good Luck with your project and I am looking forward to pictures once it is up on the stand and running..Congrats on great deal!
