Nubee - 1000 gal how to put on stand?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If we are thinking planted tank (and by 'we' I mean the proud new owner of the tank) I would suggest going with a community of kribs/apistogramma. Once its settled on its stand (or on the ground if he never manages to get it up on the stand xP) he adds rock work and driftwood, then his sand, goes to a few fish club auctions to buy as much anubias as he can find, vallesneria and java fern even.

My solution for the issue of making sure enough ligt passes down to the leaves of these plants is the following.

Sand, Rock, Driftwood on top of rock, Plants on Driftwood.

There is one clear benefit to this if he likes cichlids, and thats the fact the plants would be tied to the hardscape and the cichlids could romp below in the sand without affecting them too much!

Here is an attached example!

Welcome to MFK Kubota! Here is one thing you could try. Have all your friends on one side of the aquarium and lift one side up to the stand. Once the one side of the tank is up on one end of the stand, have all your friends lift the other side of the tank to the height of the stand. While holding the tank on one side (while the other side is on the stand) of the stand, place 4X4 as support under the tank. Slide / push the tank into position on the stand. That's what I did by myself on my 300 gallon tank, and it is acrylic 3/8" thick and was VERY HEAVY. You and your 8 friends should be able to do it. Good Luck with your project and I am looking forward to pictures once it is up on the stand and running..Congrats on great deal!

Yes, this works! I have a 8X3X30" 450 gallon tank and me and one other guy lifted it onto the stand. We put the tank perpendicular to the stand and the tank was on two sets of furniture moving wheels. We lifted the tank off one set of wheels and set it right in the middle of the stand. It was helpful having the other side of the tank still on wheels so it rolled a little. Then holding the tank so it wouldn't roll back we lifted the other half so one half was supported by the stand the other supported by us. Then we pushed more of the tank onto the stand taking most of the weight. Then we basically spun the tank on the stand until it was even on all sides.
