Amazing that you even had to explain.

Agreed but unfortunately theres allot more going on behind the scenes. Theres such stringent directives now a days. Uou wouldnt believe what these guys are expected to deal with. Thats said i was discussing this with a few pals and the consensus was a suspension is definitely worth it slapping the snot out of these bums.

Its a shame it really is.
I'm going to have to look and see what that hack mayor had to say about this incident.

First off - its a product of the way people are being raised these days.
Hello; Based on a bit over 32 years in public schools as a teacher my take is the lack of significant consequences for those under 18 years old. I started teaching back in 1970 when teachers could and did use a paddle. Even if you do not like the idea of corporal punishment the loss of it as a discipline tool was significant. Had the powers that be replaced it with something else it would have not been a big deal. They did not replace the paddle but also did take away most all other discipline measures we teachers came up with. No writing lines. No standing in a corner. No sending them out of a classroom. ( no place to send them usually) Very little suspension because of the ADA (Average Daily Attendance). Schools get money based on total number of student attendance days so the administrators did not want to use that tool. Some other things can be added to the list.

IMO those cops should be reprimanded.
Hello; I got that same sort of talk sometimes when teachers were being criticized because students were graduating from high school while essentially illiterate. The cop on the beat does not set policy. The bosses of the jurisdiction need to be taken to task.

The jw's got him. Man down man down.
Hello; Say it ain't so Joe. Say it ain't so. If true I will miss the Hendre I have come to admire the last few years. I do not yet believe he is truly gone. Maybe we can help. Back when I was a kid I helped save tinkerbell. I just do not recall what I had to do.

It wouldnt surprise if the call came in. Brass told these officers to do nothing unless absolutely necessary. Dont agree with it but knowing the climate in NYC right now these guys cannot be blamed.

Even worse if they are on probation they can be fired with out reason.

Similar orders were given in other cities that were faced with more serious situations.
The entire department ought to walk out if they arent going to be backed by the city.
Why should they go out and risk their lives for a city that will not stand behind them?

Policy has nothing to do with it when a crime is committed. Police are there to enforce the law, a crime (assult on a Police officer) was in fact committed. At that point "policy" is null & void.
Hello; Again I can only relate from my experience an a public school teacher. One example was a "POLICY" (Sorry Hendre) of lowering grades based on a number of days attendance missed and on a number of times tardy. A policy set down in the school handbook and set by the central office thru the school board.
So being the attention to detail sort in my records I kept close track of these things and did lower grades as the policy indicated. Guess what? The principal got some heat from parents and changed the grades back. There were a number of such policies set to deal with various problems but most were not enforced. I guess the strategy was based on some form of hope. A hope that by making some noise about attendance the tardiness and absences would fall in line, but they were not willing to enforce their own rules.
I learned that it is best to not have a rule at all if you do not plan to enforce it.

Exactly.
I know the brass probably has pretty tight reigns on what the PO's response in situations like this these days, but I truely have a hard time believing they would tell them not to arrest someone that assaults them because that is gonna just give the green light for more and worse to happen across the country.

If that is the case...then agree with ya. I think it's time for Blue Flu.

I heard Lynch (head of the union) is losing it over this. Hes been at war with deblasio for some time now.

In a different time i would have agreed with steve 100% shoot in the past i would routinely make the same judgment but now a days... its just bad.

Steve Sadly this happens almost daily. I know people that have lost their pensions, shields, and even there freedoms for doing things that what we would normally consider within their job description.
