may not make sense for the league, but if you have player/ref interaction outside of games then how can one not see how a ref could favor a player or team over the other. even if its unintentional its gonna happen.

when you watch a game and you see a ticky tack foul called in favor of a star player. like maybe the defensive brushed against his jersey. then you go to the other end and a no name player has the ball and the same thing happens and no foul is called. wouldnt you say that giving the vetern/ star players the benefit of the doubt is the same as fixing? im sick of hearin gabout it on tv. liten to the announcers, how many times do they say oh so and so is compaining abot not getting the call but hes jus a rookie. fouls should be handed out evenly. same goes for other things two. kobe and labron can get away with taking 5 steps but they wont get called for traveling. and then there is shaq. that guy travels everytime he has the ball but also rarley gets that called on him. all these little things are fixing the game. these guys have skill, but they dont have true basketball fundamentals.

First, the alegations specifically say the games were fixed by the league, to benefit the league. So, even if you are right about the ref's liking a certain player, those aren't the accusations. T D said it was "from the league". Plus if a ref was favoring a guy and the NBA noticed it, if it didn't benefit the league they would get rid of him.

Second, while I will agree that a foul should be a foul, there is a certain level of earning a call. This is how I explain it to my fiance because she doesn't like it either. Say you have Kobe Bryant driving to hole against, let's say, I don't know, the Pistons;). If our new rookie Rodney Stuckey steps up and gets in the way of Kobe, either going for a block or try to take a charge, and the refs see it as being pretty equal in contact, who gets the call? Because of the sort of "no contact" rules lots of times there are plays which look equal, and I think in those instances, you give the veteran player the call, or the initiator. Just my opinion, but I think in the NBA sometimes guys do have to earn calls.

Oh, and to say that a guy like Kobe has skills but lacks fundamentals is...:nilly:

It's the NBA FINALS!!!! You have to earn what you get! I'm tired of lame foul calls because breathing too hard on the opponent. I saw some legitimate strips yesterday which were called as fouls. C'mon, grow a little backbone. Otherwise the game turns into...oh god...should I say it...the...WNBA!!!! :nilly:

no, I take it back. Those girls play with a lot more physical contact than the men , and they don't complain like some of the sissys I saw in the past 2 games:irked:

im not just talkin gabout what he is talking about. im sure those games were influenced, but like the artical says he just might be trying to help himself out. if thats the case, wouldnt you help yourself out by nameing two big play off series or just everyday stuff?

earning a foul is bs! if someone is outside the circle, has feet planted, then its an offensive foul.

it gets harder and harder to watch the nba every yr.

Sorry but it's not always that cut and dry. I wish it was but it isn't. Add in the fact that one ref thinks his feet were planted and another ref doesn't, and one ref thinks the guy driving was out of control and one ref thinks he was in control and putting up a shot. It just isn't simple as if the guy was out of the circle or not. The ref's have to make call in a second or two after contact, it's tough when there's that many guys around. Not to mention the addition of flopping to the game.
