It's the NBA FINALS!!!! You have to earn what you get! I'm tired of lame foul calls because breathing too hard on the opponent. I saw some legitimate strips yesterday which were called as fouls. C'mon, grow a little backbone. Otherwise the game turns into...oh god...should I say it...the...WNBA!!!! :nilly:

i agree onion, let them play. contact should be part of the game. only the hardest fouls should be called!!!! it pisses me off seeing an offensive guy elboing and ramming his body against an defensive player as he backs him down to the hoop but as soon as the defensive player stands his ground or bumps back its a foul?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? wtf!!!!! all these rules to favor the offense for higher scoring games are bs. let def and off play as equals!

Sorry but it's not always that cut and dry. I wish it was but it isn't. Add in the fact that one ref thinks his feet were planted and another ref doesn't, and one ref thinks the guy driving was out of control and one ref thinks he was in control and putting up a shot. It just isn't simple as if the guy was out of the circle or not. The ref's have to make call in a second or two after contact, it's tough when there's that many guys around. Not to mention the addition of flopping to the game.

than no call should be made

BTW. There is a rumor going around here about a trade between the Pistons and Denver. It's huge, but it makes sense with the money, here it is: Detroit would give up, Billups, Prince, Wallace, and their #29 pick, and get back Melo, Camby, Martin, and Atkins.
I really hope that this is just people with too much time on their hands, actually it came from a Woody Paige article.

You are operating in a eutopia. Can you imagine if all that contact happened and nobody ever got called for a foul? Listen, it sounds good while we're talking about it here, but go watch a game, and try and make all the appropriate calls. Then go back and watch all the stuff you miss. It's a tough job, there are guys who are 6-9 220 crashing into each other and falling down, not to mention the other 8 guys on the court. Fouls are in the rules for a reason, you call them. I don't like either how "ticky tack" the league is now, and they shold eliminate a lot of those calls, in fact a lot of them were put in place after the Pistons won in 04:irked:. But the plays that are by the hoop are tough to call.

i agree, they are tough. all im saying if its not clear cut then id rather see no call made. i believe fans on both sides would rather see that!

Take a look back and watch how the Bad Boys in the late 80's/early 90's played. Very, very physical, and it worked they won titles, now they also had some great offensive players, but their defense was superb, because of their toughness. Unfortunately, the ratings weren't very good, except in D-town. So, as a commisioner what do you do? Change the game, go with Jordan, not the Bad Boys. It's not the best case, because it started the decline of tough basketball, but if it would have kept going like that, maybe the league wouldn't be here now. I don't know, I'm just trying to argue from the reality of the league now. They are not going to go back to how it was because they make too much money like this, so what can you do? I think the new flopping legislation will help, and we'll see what else comes from the playoffs ie. discrepancy of free throws, the Brent Barry thing, etc.

what do you think of applying this in the NBA?

Unlike the NBA, the penalty for "flopping" under FIBA rules is a technical foul. (FIBA rules state that would count as one of a player's five fouls (6 in a 48-minute game in some countries) towards being taken out of the game. In the NBA technical fouls for unsportsmanlike conduct count as one towards the two to ejection or seven to suspension.)
