I agree that Sanders was a great back but as for making it easier for the QB to throw thus improving Mitchell as a QB. This being the case then why was this not the effect on other Lions QBs such as Peete Or Kramer?
As a note Barry Sanders had his best seasons while Mitchell was QB. Maybe Mitchell made Barry a better RB. Possibly it was just that they complimented each other and that was a very powerful offense for a few years.
Regarding the Peete and Kramer part, just so you know, and this would be impossible to know without being in this area all of the time, Kramer is actually regarded as probably the best QB that we've had in for the most part 50 years. Mitchell on the other hand, is regarded as one of the worst. He had a ton of weapons around him, including Barry he had Moore, Perriman, and so on, and he made lots of mistakes in critical times. Numbers can be a little misleading, like if you look at just numbers, Jon Kitna would actually be our best QB in 25 years. (sadly that might be true though!)
As for Mitchell making Barry better, it's interesting for casual debate, but not really realistic in any manner. Mitchell really wasn't much before he got here, and certainly was nothing when he left. Also, anybody who got to see Barry run knows that he was the reason he was so good.
