So taker got himself banned ????? That's gotta be the hogan thread , what was that all about ? I think he's had one to many piledrivers





I tried the African route mate set up a 4x2x2 filled it with nice river boulders , stocked it with all sorts , got them all settled and breeding like rabbits , the tank looked great everyone commented on it as it was in our living room
Then I got bored of looking at pretty fish , sold the lot and put my breeding pair of jags in the tank lesson learned the Africans were nice but I can't get away from the monsters lol
I did like the calvas cichlids though tbh I would probably stock those again as a species tank and get a little group of those

Heey Danny! Yep, Takers out. Not sure what he was thinking, Borg may be onto something when he said he may have been drunk, cause that thread didn't make any sense lol. Do you have any pictures of your African tank?

holy crap. looked up pics of those, and they are really colorful. article says there can be a big difference in between how males turn out though.
wonder why I haven't seen them on vendors' lists though? wetspot usually has a fair amount of varieties.
not that I want to go african. but those are cool.

proper management / rock caves/ is key to success with their aggression styles. and since they mostly include doing better in higher fish numbers it can be difficult to enjoy or appreciate 'personality' like in americans.
but I dived in 100% ignorant & did it all wrong, with one kenyi in small tank, then divided him from a blue tank mate. kenyi was the meanest, most relentless attacker I ever had.
even took skin off my hands with his tiny scraper teeth. I even put him in a 75G for a while, and he became even WORSE. I had to beat him off me with airline hoses. it never phased him at all.
BUT turned into the best pet fish we have (after a couple/few years) he recognizes individuals, hates strangers, begs, and has nearly given up human attacks.
you will never encounter that with africans in groups, as they should be kept. they're ALL instinct-driven.

So the pope is coming to town this weekend and they are pretty much shutting down the whole city until he leaves....I'm talking major highway routes in and out of as well as through the city will be blocked off,they are even restricting some bridges to New Jersey to foot traffic only....Talk about overkill!

Yeah I saw that. I kinda don't get it. On one hand they say he makes himself so accessible to everyone, but then they talk about how crazy the security is.

I think the over the top security is the brainchild of our,not so,highly esteemed mayor.He's pulling out all the stops and then some to make sure that nothing happens in his city on his watch that would make him look bad.
