Dont know just heard part of the story on the radio...gist is marching for global warming or something

Hello; Both issues are in play currently. Last weekend was Earth Day and over the recent decades has become a time of focus on the ongoing environmental issues. There have been a few thread discussions in this forum in the last few years on a few of the environmental issues. Of course the discussions break out into opposing veiwpoints being cussed and discussed.

The funding in science is on the chopping block for the upcoming budget legislation. The USA has a huge dollop of military spending with more spending proposed. There are automatic budget items that, so far, are untouchable. The interest rate on the national debt is high and will be using up even larger portions of the available budget as the FED raises basis points on interest. That leaves things like science research programs and public TV/radio programs on the table to be cut.

I have already seen in the last few months spokespeople plugging their special interest on C-span and other media outlets. Add to the list "the arts" as symphony orchestras and other "arts" try to make a case for why their stuff is worth federal money over other needs.

I went to Knoxville TN last Saturday. There is a large billboard there about local children not having food to eat when there is no school in session. In case you are not aware there are a lot of kids who do not get meals on a regular basis other that school breakfast and school lunch. Some schools and community organizations make up sack lunches for the kids to take home with them on Friday afternoons.
 
.....and according to news reports "Joanie" died from complications from stage 4 cancer and had no traces of illegal drugs in her system.
 
I'm not a big buyer of candy so that morsel comes as no big blow to me.
