Got pedals and shoes for my bicycle today. On the test run I was so fixated on trying to lock the shoe in and unlocking them I forgot I was on the bike and fell over. It then dawned on my I can leave my bike on my cycleops trainer and practice in the safety and privacy of my garage.

Bike is a specialized sirrus sport, since I've never used the clipping pedal and shoe set-up I went with some entry level shimano pedals and the specialized tahoe shoe figuring I can upgrade in a year or two if I feel the need. Hit the trail for a short twelve miler this morning and absolutely loved the pedals and shoes. My main intent was to keep the pedals under the balls of my feet since I tend to let my feet creep forward until they are under my arches, obviously they did this but I never realized how much power and speed they add by letting you work both the up and down strokes.

Cool. Looks like a nice little roadbike. I only ride off road and I split time riding clipless or platform pedals depending on what kind of terrain I will be riding. Being clipped in on a bike with 7'' of suspension front and rear just doesn't seem safe to me. The trails that we ride these bikes on are very steep and strewn with ruts and boulders.
