Anybody here eat turkey ham?
not turkey ham, but I use smoked turkey drumsticks instead of ham hock now, to cook old fashioned ham hock & beans. it turns out just as good & is really low fat.
served with corn bread, of course.

Conquering one of my other childhood fears:

I'm finally going try to learn how to swim...

So far, the biggest deal was to allow my foot to come off the bottom of the swimming pool :)

Yes, the irony that I keep fish is not lost on me.

LOL. I nearly drowned when quite young & retained memory of all detail, so I know what you mean about the auto response to your foot coming off the bottom.
After witnessing my near death, mom should've hauled me to swim lessons asap.
So, how are you approaching Adult Swim Lessons? ;-)

Well, my official class starts in July. 2 weeks 8 lessons(300 dollars)

So I figure I'll try to float myself and get over the fear so I don't waste time in the class.

I have a friend who lives in an apartment that has a pool so I go over their place to just stand in the swallow end of the water, take a breath kick my feet and glide(or flop) about 10-20 feet and stand up...it took me about a few hours to get over the fear of letting my feet float while not holding anything with my hands. Was reading different strokes...it seems coordination wise freestyle might be the way to go...at least I can kick like that...breaststroke to me seems very hard to coordinate.

...........
at that price, is it an adult-only class? if so, the instructor should be quite skilled enough with the issues.

yes it a semi private lesson...myself and my wife.
In that case, I wouldn't even worry. instructor has probably done this before and will stay far enough away from you that you can't grab him by the neck if you're going under
;-)

Breaststroke is actually quite easy, butterfly is a son of a gun. I high school we swam 12-14 miles a day between morning and afternoon practice and 4 laps would kick my behind.

Good for you. Good luck with it. I'm at the point that its no longer worth trying or not an option.
