I'm totally bummed out :-(
straight out of the blue, my male heckelii is just dying. in a couple hrs, went from swimming around looking and eating fine, to sitting under wood, some fins darkening. breathing kinda labored. when I roused him in shelter with water flow, then he would list slightly to one side against wood for props. First I thought he had too lg a piece of FD krill stuck, after stealing from the ghost. but I shined light in his throat and could see nothin.
He's simply dying. no sign beforehand.
I have him in a roomy netted square space at surface with plenty & flowing, in case anything resolves
 
Oh Gramz!! I'm so sorry to hear that! Here's hoping he pulls through! *prays*

thanks kellz, but my Bubba died :-(
I've never had one die fast and with NO sign of why.
He was our favorite & best display fish in the Geo tank. he was the Boss, but not bossy. Just had Class & so much character, plus he just sparkled! My husband will be BUMMED, he's out of town.
It was sad, "Missus Bubba" and the male severum both kept going over to him when he would tilt & show weakness, and nudge him with their noses, trying to get him up and moving better. the sev was chasing any nippy geos away from him.
When I took him out, Ms Bubba took off swimming real fast around the tank and looking, like "What the...???!"
:-/ They always swam as a twosome.
Oh well.
 
he always ate from my fingers too, swam through them & round my hand nibbling me.
 
Eh, I'm tired. stayed up hoping Bubba might pull out of whatever was wrong if I kept the current running over him. I gotta get some rest-still not well. husband is gonna call later, great news... nada.
Heckelii are slow developers. they keep getting prettier all the time.

Totally weird for it to get smashed under a rock.
 
Whoever did it(Mike) had good aim.

Granny, these things happen to fish. A new Bubba will arise and be the ruler of his harem. I am sure in time he will nibble on your finger as well.
 
and how did the rock fall?...I never knew them to be very active diggers.
