J jaws7777 My high deductible was long before Obamacare. This was a trend in the industry. Obama did not create it. It is where insurance companies were going to control costs. Also, the Fed does not cover the costs of insurance companies. That was part of Obamacare but was removed by Supreme Court which has led to some of the spiraling costs.

You just had a kid (congrats) but I am guessing you experienced some of the issues with healthcare that are independent of obamacare. My wife is due in August with a 2nd child. We went for our 10 week ultrasound and were charged $410 by a genetics doctor that saw us for 2 min to tell us there were no genetics issues. We already knew this because of tests done in the first pregnancy. No one asked us if we wanted to do this or not.

That is where obamacare failed miserably. In any industry your vendor is required to provide you with pricing and the ability to make an informed decision prior to purchase of the product of services and products. That does not exist in healthcare and doctors/hospitals/insurance/pharma screw us because of it.

I don't think any health insurance should be forced on people. You don't want it....fine. Obamacare was designed to charge those that normally have insurance to pay extra to cover those illegals that don't have it.

Don't agree on the illegals part. Most people that have seen increased insurance costs are those that do not get it from a company which is a much smaller percentage than those that get it from a company. Those with insurance have always been paying for free loaders. The freeloaders just did not pay or went bankrupt. The freeloaders include illegals, but also were the poor, and the very sick.

Under obamacare you are paying to cover anyone that did not have insurance before it.

Btw, I am not trying to argue with folks. I work within the industry as a consultant related to systems that often support healthcare. The reality is there are 100s of reasons why healthcare in the US is screwed up and expensive. I just get frustrated when people blame the poor, illegals, or obamacare cause it is not that simple. All obamacare did was make the issues that much more apparent to the masses.

Interesting to see everyones opinions on this stuff.

Thanks. I just see lots of passionate posts of people attacking each other instead of "discussing". I personally don't know how I feel about Trump. I think he looks like a cheetoh and he irritates me, but I am very positive. All I want is life for my family to get better whether it is republican or democrat. My wife was very excited that he got elected and I will give him time to do his best. Personally, I voted for Gary Johnson but admired Bernie Sanders. I don't agree with Bernie's views but man is he passionate and has he been consistent with his views unlike most politicians that flip flop like pancakes. I will say his supporters of "everything free" is irritating. They admire Europe (which I do too) but dont understand that they have insane taxes to pay for everything, it is not free.

I think you are trying be intelligent and are not out to just calling people names. This is the way a discussion should be.

secondly I agree, I have no idea whats in store but I'm moderately excited and hope things actually get shaken up a bit...

I would've voted for the libertarian candidate, but then he didn't know what or where Aleppo was...and I lost faith in the world for a while lol.

Congrats on the baby what a blessing they are. The issues were because we moved and my insurance at the time was not accepted in the new state.

Oh im sure there are tons of problems with health care other than obama care and insurance companies. I agree about the costs. I remember my 1st born i think the bill was 60k wow !!

Not arguing at all man infact i enjoy convos like this. Im not expert in any of these fields and can always learn something from someone i disagree with.

I rhought sanders was a nut but i did admire his passion too. Was a little upset with him to see how he fell in line with all the b.s and corrupt crap that went on after he dropped out of the race. I figured he was going to scresm bloody hell but didnt
