Then yer a bull, right?
Err . . . a correctional officer?

BTW, One of my friends was a docent at Alcatraz and we did the unapproved tour there. I have secret hidden sallyport photos on my other machine.

Stuff the public doesn’t get to see, unless you know someone who will bend the rules.

Yep.I would like to visit Alcatraz one day.

The decay is incredible, the vandalism is indescribable, the views are unbelievable, and you don’t get to see all of it because it’s not safe to take groups there.

I got to go in the powder magazine, the shooting gallery, the boiler rooms, utility tunnel, the laundry and factory works, the gun galleries, and the officers break room. We also got to go on of the exercise yards that is essentially concrete bleachers and very steep.

I did not volunteer to be the guy they locked into solitary confinement.

So people get aboard boats to get the place and vandalize it,is that why you say it is not safe for groups to visit?

You can typically only visit Alcatraz in a guided tour group.

Parts of it are dangerous because they are rotten from the salt air, and they cannot safely take you there.

Some places on Alcatraz are just too small to take a group.

Virtually all of the vandalism was done when a group of radical native people occupied the island back in 1969. As far as I could tell none of it was really cleaned up or repaired afterwards.

Wow,doesn't the state own the island and property? They seem to be content to just allow it to rot away.On the other hand I guess Newsome has more pressing matters to concern himself with lol.

Prisons have been the subject of some of the best films in history. Escape from Alcatraz, The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, to name a few. I also liked the Prison Break series, and who can forget the classic Australian series, Prisoner:cell block H. In the UK we had a long running 70's comedy classic called Porridge, also set in a prison.

Yep and more recently Sylvester Stallone released his Escape Plan trilogy and he has a few other films with prison settings as well.

There's something alluring about that genre of film. The hopelessness of confinement, being trapped. I love films set in prisons, in space, or underwater disaster movies such as Poseidon. They always have an edge of your seat attraction because there's seemingly no escape from certain death, lol.
