It annoys me how they used to play the race/equality card. "Not enough black actors win, or not enough women directors win." Admittedly it's changed a little over the years, but is that change down to the actual quality of the movies, or is it down to having to lean in the "right direction" when nominating?

At the end of the day the Oscars are about good movies, irrespective of who acts/directs them.

Hello; I did not watch the Oscars so missed it live. If the host will be getting smacked at random I will watch again. I think Smith and Rock ought to have a cage fight.
Fun Fact,Will Smith and I went to the same high school,he graduated a year before I did.

awards shows always pick the movies I find awful, artsy and unwatchable. I don’t watch them but it seldom the movies that I find entertaining.

in terms of representation, it has changed and that’s a good thing.
You see much more diversity in all forms of entertainment. That became more prevalent while Obama was president and that is a huge step for this country which has a long dark history of making it difficult for those who are not white, christian or male to succeed.

Since MeToo and getting that pig Weinstein out, you see more opportunity for women and POC as directors, producers and leads.
And once again that’s a good thing.
Awards show are crap, pomp and circumstance but if it can be an actual representation of the population being nominated and receiving recognition it’s easier to watch without skepticism

Hello; I can agree that many of the oscar wining movies are artsy and/or unwatchable. The movies i like do not win so much any more. The rest of your post is too PC and a bit insulting.

In what world is diversity insulting? Seems a little thin skinned and insecure.
Didn’t you used to have the racist punisher skull as you icon?

There were several of you and it’s an extremely offensive iconography. Ironic because the punisher fought against police.
The thin blue line in any form is a racist gang symbol, like the Gadsden flag and confederate battle rag.
The FBI and CIA have long been aware of white supremacy groups infiltrating police forces since the 80’s that symbol and the action of many police in this country affirm this.
Whenever you see that symbol it’s code for that individual being racially intolerant, possibly violent

Hello; To me the thin blue line on flags or other images is showing support for the police. Police of any and all colors or backgrounds. I have a blue LED light bulb in my front porch light which i burn at night. I live in a busy highway in my area. I want the police officers to know they have my support.
I do not know what a Gadsden flag is so will not comment on that.
I do not fly a confederate battle flag.
I was correct to be insulted by your posts. The skull images have been adopted by units of American soldiers. ( I think Chris Kyle's unit had skull images. In the movie anyway.) Not sure how official those images may be. The punisher movie was about an FBI agent getting revenge for the murder of his family. He went after thugs and criminals. Maybe a corrupt police. I am in favor of corrupt police being punished. But in the end it was just a movie.

My goodness dude,it's from a comic book character who,was a former law enforcement agent turned vigilante crime fighter....all that "its racist" crap is stuff that others have come along and tried to associate with the image..
The things that , some people whine about these days....oh well, done here.
