Very skillfully, I might add. It's not possible to point to any one particular comment and turn it into an excuse to start foaming and twitching. Nicely worded...discreet, polite, but making it clear where you sit on the topic. I like it!

I actually started to respond as well...but after a couple of attempts, I kept slipping into the warm, comfortable waters of the Sea of Offense and knew that it would be difficult to get back out if I took just one more step, just one more word...

I salute you! :)

And now, I return to the mowing of my yard. My last scheduled day for that chore was Tuesday, but here in Canuckistan that was Truth and Reconciliation Day...I am not making that up! My granddaughters were visiting and became a bit uneasy at the idea of Gramps doing that kind of work on a day that is set aside for us to ponder and mull over the injustices that possible ancestors of mine might have visited upon possible ancestors of other people. They...both the transgressors and victims...have been dead for hundreds of years, so it's considered gauche for anyone to attempt to defend themselves against these charges. Of course, levying more charges as they are "discovered" is perfectly fine...

Dang.... it's a good thing I'm sensitive. 😎

Hello; I get this is an MSN fluff story with no redeeming value. I also get the bit of pulling out of the deal just days before is rotten but also do not care about that much.
What struck me was a vegetarian somehow does not seem to understand a canine is a carnivore. I no longer have a dog and likely will not again. Regardless of my food preferences I would feed a dog meat.
Sad thing is the story may well be true as well as being a click bait.

Hello; Not that I expect the same from the bosses on this site, but i have seen where you tube & maybe face book have reinstated some accounts banned during the cancel culture rage times. I think especially the Covid era but for sure not limited to Covid.

I was declared a member of a small group which became known as the "skulls". We six were often targeted but by no means only the six of us. This site ran off a good number of good folks during those years. No need to spell out the details to those who were around at the time. Within that one group of six all but one was banned or put on probation, including me. I check in from time to time to see if those guys post on a private message. Been weeks to maybe months now since hearing from them.
Of some small interest is five of us are now reinstated with only one still on probation. Guess such does not matter as they appear to have moved on. Too bad as they were great folks and very knowledgeable.
At one time I could be offline a day or so and it would take a long time to catch up on just the limited posts I followed. Now I can go a day or few and the new post page can have only a handful of new stuff. But i guess in a way the bosses won. Not sure if it was worth it all. Maybe they are happy with their creation.

I miss my five friends and several others outside that group. By the way we were only six because the "rules" only allowed six in a private conversation. Never could get that rule relaxed for some reason.

Ironically, it was one of your friends, that initiated that award. lol. Personally, I could care less about awards, or pats on the back. My contributions over the years regarding fish keeping, on this site that was designed with fellow fish keepers in mind, speak for themselves.

Btw - the TOS for this site, were created and/or endorsed by the owner. Moderators and administrators have come and gone over the years. If a person stops by my property, and chooses not to follow my rules, it seems that I ought to have the right to ask that person to leave. No need for 1, 2, or 10 warnings required. For me it’s quite simple, FO and don’t come back. Before your time, but that’s pretty much how Phill Oddball Oddball handled members that pushed the envelope. When he pulled the trigger it was often a 1st and last warning, no probation, no coming back.

Self control is apparently something that not all folks are good at, myself included at times. The TOS here are pretty straightforward, no need for a lawyer to explain. If one chooses not to follow them, especially when asked repeatedly, they shouldn’t cry foul after the fact. To which I will add, the same admin who years ago offered me a role as a moderator here ( I declined) was the same admin who later claimed I was basically the root of all evil here, and sent me a very curse warning. Lmao

Whatever…….

Keep your friends close...and your enemies closer...and by all means promote the root of all evil to a position of authority...:)

RD. RD. , I see you have been here a very long time. I have only a few years under my belt on MFK, but I am already finding that the benefits of membership here seem to be waning, while the aggravations are on the increase. I have managed to learn...finally...sort of...to just skip over many threads (certainly not all!) whose titles alone warn of impending frustration if I comment. But overall, I'm feeling more and more as though checking in here has simply become a habit, with no real expectation of gleaning anything other than some mild entertainment in most cases. If there are instances when I can be of assistance, I do enjoy trying to help...but that seems to rear up and bite my butt as often as not.

I'm selfish; I joined, first and foremost, to gain information that I might find useful. Actually being helpful to others was way down my list of priorities; perhaps sad, but true. Combine that with the fact that most of the information I have gotten here could have been obtained just as easily by simply reading along as a lurker, which is what I did for a long while before actually signing up...and I find myself wondering more and more...why bother? I've tried and abandoned a couple of other aquariums forums in the past for similar reasons; MFK is, or was, head-and-shoulders above them in terms of usefulness, but...

I honestly don't know how you do it, and have done it, for so long. I've seen posts by you on more than one occasion where the frustration was becoming evident, the pot was bubbling up dangerously close to the surface, and I thought "Yeah...here comes...he's gonna blow!" but you manage to step back from the edge each time before plunging into the abyss.

Bravo, more power to you; I wish I had that kind of restraint.

This forum, like most fish forums, ain’t what they used to be. These days I have to be pretty bored to even log in, let alone comment on anything.
