Petsmart doesn't sell SW fish in my area. Do they sell them elsewhere?
yeah i know in Chorpus Christi they do my friend works there, from what i hear it's massive. whats sad is they put her in the fish section and she knows nothing about fish other than you feed them and you need to change the water every now and then. but when she works the fish section i get 50+ calls a day with questions:ROFL:. i'm just glad she calls with questions and not just "winging it" like the manager told her to...

PS does not sell any SW fish in any store. They do no training for SW. Having someone in the aquatics department who knows SW is a bonus, which most stores don't have.

Some stores are worse than others, don't generalize the entire company because one group of 4 associates couldn't identify a fish they don't sell or carry. Maybe this thread should be "The petsmart by my house sucks".. or "The company I work for sucks 100x more than this petsmart by my house.."

People get angry at me when I can't provide them information with scorpions, snakes, and praying mantis'.. and then when I tell them the reason for me not knowing about those animals is that we don't sell them, they expect me to know everything?

"You work in the animal department you should know this stuff".. and my reply is "Your the one who owns the scorpion, how come your asking ME questions!?"

Whoever dumped off the flame hawk obviously didn't care about it (or the $), and was obviously going to kill it.. It may or may not have been in better care at that PS, but hopefully the associates did the right thing and found a saltwater tank for it.

How come you didn't offer to take it back to Petco and save it? I'm sure they wouldn't have minded, especially since you can't technically take back any live animal at PS past 14 days.

I don't understand how that makes PS employees so 'stupid'.. when in complete actuality the only 'stupid' person was the person who dropped money on a saltwater fish, a saltwater tank, and then dumped it off on a pet store that doesn't even sell saltwater fish.

the one in chorpus does sell FW and SW fish.

The Petsmart by me does not carry saltwater fish, they don't even know about freshwater, you can't expect them to be good with salt. My Petco does have decent saltwater tanks by my standards, although someone didn't maintain them, and ALL the specimens died on at least 2 occasions.

woah there miles, settle down.

i admit my first post was a bit hostile. maybe i just have a certain something against this petsmart, maybe they deserve it who knows. But i know for a fact that one the managers there (one of the four) has a saltwater tank or did because she used to come in our store and buy fish (cant miss that face). As for offering to take it? i would of it they had asked me, im not one to be like hey ill take it, or gimme gimme gimme. Ask amesbien, its just how i am.

Amesbien (kev) apparently someone had left it in a cart to die.

I understand that Pmart does not sell SW fish. But, they do sell saltwater products, so shouldn't they have some training about saltwater? At least how to tell the difference between fresh and saltwater?

That is correct. Petsmart doesn't sell snakes, etc. But doesn't Petsmart sell snake accessories? So shouldn't the employees be trained about snakes so they can help customers make the right decision about snake products?

Ugh. I hate these threads as well. They just finally come to everyone flaming every corporate pet store and a bunch of useless arguments lol.

I know alot of you enjoy blasting on the pet stores but lets be honest here if YOU know thats more important than anything, If and i'm not saying you are all you have to do with your free time is complain about the stores then maybe you should stop shopping there all together. Yes they should know what a flame hawkfish is but i know that at least in all the petsmarts here they do not even carry saltwater. and as for the price again it must be where you are bc yellow labs here are 9.99.

The Petco by my house does sell saltwater fish and equipment. Mostly just Damesels and other small species. The Petsmart doesn't sell any SW fish and has very little equipment. I don't generally go to the chain stores because the service isn't very good. I would rather pay a little more money for the better service at the small privately owned LFS.
