Ok Im starting my DIY stand now!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well i screwed up my cuts because its my first time. Not an excuse, but it was a careless mistake. I can complete most of it, but i have to cut my 23" cuts into 6" cuts. Its a big difference but dont worry, I do know what Im talking about...I think... :D

So I will post as far as I get after dinner and later tonight. So Ill be on posting a little later.

pshh... Who tells people when they make mistakes?

Hopefully this picture will inspire you. My arm is DEAD so thats as much as you'll see tonight.

LOL. Yea actually it does. Because that looks freakin nice! Congradulations. :clap

I am working on it now. Im drilling holes in my wood before I put the screws in so it will be a little easier to put them in. Im taking pictures as I go along dont think I forgot about those!;) I might have some pictures and an update at around half time of the finals game... GO CAVS!:D

those little holes are called 'Pilot Holes' and without them, you'd have a lot of split wood. I drilled about 600 of them today. I intended on using all 3 1/2" screws but the 24v drill kept dying and anything with less voltage in the house cant spin a 3 1/2"..... So nails, it would have to be.

I couldnt begin to tell you how many times I cut something and went "sh*t, this is an inch short"... I wanted quite a bit of room on either side of my tank but at the end of the day, the opening is 72 3/4" and the tanks framing is 72 1/2"

Hows that for close?

Thats the same closeness Ill have. lol. Exactly a half inch.

Here was my scenario...

I didnt plan on having the tank there at all. I originally planned on, and spent a month cleaning a section of the basement, to have it in the corner in the back of the house, so it would on the far left side of the room.

Then I thought "no body is going to want to look at a tank all the wall down there and it will mess with the projectors lighting..

Re assessed the scene. Decided it should go right behind the couches... Thats the best place for a tank. HUGE problem though. The tank will completely cover the doorway. so this is the order of how a single wall changed 3 times in less than a month...

#1 (wall been there for 15 years untouched)

#2 (I moved the wall a year ago so a couch could fit on the left side)

#3 (set up for 125gallon fishtank)

anyway... once I moved the wall, I pretty much tore down the other side completely, and started from scratch, which was a bulk of the work. So make your damn cuts already!
