Another one of these threads..
I don't think they are insulting you. lol Just telling you what the founder of mfk thinks about it. There are a lot of monster fish havers I can agree with that, but mfk really is just the next level of fish keepers in an online community. Is that not what the other forums are? I like this site over the others though, because this site is well rounded, people keep just about everything from dwarf cichlids to pacu. lol It is the passion for fish keeping that brings us together not the big fish..get it?

But why is the site owner dragged into this? No one asked what MFK stood for. And all members have a different understanding of it. The OP asked "what ISNT monster". Its a simple question, but people got all into a personal debate about what MFK means. And now are trying to side with the site owner and drag him into it, like its a battle.

The OP never asked what MFK stood for. Its pretty childish to drag the site ower into this. If the OP was interested in his opinion he could of sent a PM. The OP created a topic on "what isnt monster". When people posted their opinons they were attacked and insulted. And are being insulted continueosly.

I posted my opinions about it, and thats all I needed to get off my chest. You guys can continue to act like children.

my reading comprehension must suck too, cause i didnt see anybody getting insulted, just a discussion between members.

in the context of this thread, you cant discuss what "isnt monster" w/o bring up the name of this site. Li's definition was brought into this because you seem to be a mind reader when it comes to MFK.

and to be brutally honest, you were the only one acting childish in this. even the young guys were more level-headed than you. have a nice day!

Well, I am not gonna deabte what peopel think MFK means, cause I said we all have a different understanding. Thats all, no one needs to fight anyone. But the OP asked what ISNT monster, and no one would answer that. Im not here to fight with anyone and get personal. So your opinion on MFK doesnt mean anything to me as my opinion doesnt mean anything to you, everyones opinion differs. But could anyone agree on what ISNT monster?

I think the mission statement here is never read. I think it pretty clearly tells us what "Monster" is.

We are a unique community of Fish Keepers who seriously take our hobby to extremes and the NEXT level. The majority of our fish collections include RARE & EXOTIC Species of all sizes, BIG FISH with BIG APPETITES and BIG TANKS. It's not easy for most people or other "regular" fish keepers to understand why we maintain this type of collection and spare no expense on this fascinating hobby.

but I also think that it all depends on the fish. Like a paradise threadfin is a monster fish if you know how to keep it b/c it's a fragile fish. Or if your so into the hobby that you acctually take your fish however common they maybe to fish shows and win awards with them. You may not have the largest tank here but that's a tall order. but as long as you have the dedication to the hobby and not all your fish can be bought from any lfs then you're in.

And as long as you aspire to a bigger tank no matter how big you current one is.

To answer the OP's specific question, if there "isn't" a subforum for the kind of fish you keep, MFK doesn't "classify" it as it monster. If it's missing odds are good it's over on AC. All are welcome so passion obviously counts for something or you would have to register what kind of fish you keep before signing up on MFK.

Who cares what "isn't" monster, if your hooked on the site, odds are good you'll end up owning monsters eventually... Overdoing the hobby is what's monster.

Hi. Op here. Sorry to see this thread go the way it did.

At least, on this last page, the original subject was addressed. I guess JK47 has a good point. No subforum, not monster. Obviously, forums are modified from time to time to accommodate trends and such, but the gist makes sense.
I also really liked this:

I have read that statement a few times, but it's not exactly a law. Aye, they're more like guidelines, Cap'n Sparrow.
