Heres my idea, tell me if you guys think it will work.. I will open the windows and let the cold air cool down in here.. put the heat lamp by a small box on the floor in the corner and pray that it finds its way there tonight? That will be my last option if I dont find it today..

You mentioned hot water heat.....do you have radiators in your apartment? Look there if you haven't already.
wow that stinks after reading this is why i know i keep fish i hope you find it and for you baby situation i no the "snake wont KIll" but be careful none the less you never know for sure what it would do
I have no worries about the snake hurting my daughter... it will only attack if it thinks its food and shes way too big to be eaten.. the snake is very docile and has never bitten before and we've had it for about a year and a half or more.. I have finally found someone who is not afraid of snakes to come over and help me find it..

Seriously, are you sure the snake was in the cage when you put the rat in last night? Maybe the snake was already missing, thats why he didnt eat the rat.
