My vote would be the red pike cichlid if you want it to be able to withstand going in the monster tank.
Depending on exactly HOW monstery the tank is you could do red snakeskin discus. Otherwise, the snook would have my vote. I loved keeping mine.
Well, while this fish isn't all red, I was thinking you might be able to add a nice fire eel with the red streaks down its body.
I'm with everyone who said/suggested the Red Pike. Wetspot and Freshwatertropicalfishonline both have Atabapo Pikes(One of the red pike species) around 7 inches plus right now. As for the Parrot don't be so quick to discount them, they come in lots of different body types. Like my current Ingots body shape. This pics bad, he was just settling in, had fin damage and wasn't at his best color wise. Plus he was making it hard to take a pic because he was all over exploring his new tank.
Ended up getting him the red jewels. He LOVES them! I got a nice pair, once a deep blood red, the other si a brighter, orangey red with more spangling. I'm hoping I've got a pair.
