do you turn off the room light too so the tank is pitch black? I tried it last night with the room lights off but turn on my 1.5w LED light I setup to mimic moonlighting. He took a few pieces of tilapia right away. Then the dat jacked all the food. LoLMy weeksii is also active and will cruise around and completely pass over food. The night feedings will help. You will see big fat weeksii belly in no time.
I make sure it is dark. I do a low watt led light on a separate timer to mimic the dusk/dawn effect. I try and wait about 1/2 an hour after my timer shuts off so the cichlids are not going to go at it. My snook once ate so much tilapia with the lights on the dusk effect that he turned pure white and was bloated looking sitting on the bottom of the tank for three days! Feeding with the lights off and completely dark, I see him in the morning and can tell he did not get any of it.do you turn off the room light too so the tank is pitch black? It's sort of hard for me to make it pitch black. My led clock illuminate the room. I can still see the fish silhouette thru the tanks. By the way, do u assumed the food got eaten and go to sleep after dumping in the food? Isn't that not practical?
Is it challenging to feed both top and bottom swimmers when they are both carnivore?I feed the same value pack size tilapia from Walmart as well. I diced about 2-3 fillet each feeding. Bass and dat eat a lot more than the bichirs.
