I believe he said the fish was 13 inches. Obviously he will eventually need a 180 gallon minimum. But for now, a 75 is fine. Once he gets 15-16 inches then it's time to start thinking about stepping it up to the 180 or larger. A move from a 75 to a 125 does little as it is the same width. I have my 7 inch Dovii in a 55 for now. Once he hits 10-12 inches he moves to a 75, then at 15-16 inches he goes to a 210. Again to the topic...I would do feeders only as a supplement to a high quality pellet. Breed your own Cons and use them as feeders.

:iagree:

Feed him Cons I hate those little Ba$tards

i feed feeders once in a while but not as a staple they don't help colors at all unless gut loaded not much nutrition in them also but once in a while and if there clean and have beed treated for parasites the won't harm your fish and will even make your fish happy but then do make a mess my cichlids send scales flying every where

thanks,,,,,,,,,i was thinking the same thing.I already know he will need a bigger tank,but for now the tank is fine. People like z trip are just trying to start flame wars.(dont tell me how to care for a dovii z trip if you never had one).People i know he will need a bigger tank,but if hes fine in it now,why buy one bigger then necessary.He is only 12.5 inches.the tank is 48 inches long and 18 inches wide,whats the prob?

This is the same as saying;

"I'll leave my 7 year old child in a cot because he can still fit, but will only give him a bed when he starts to sleep curved."
