Hey guys

Ive been slowly working on setting up my 60gal tank since September. At the moment its sitting in the family room with no water, only black sand and my DIY 3D background. Anyways Ive purchased a Rena XP3 and filled it up with ceramic rings and bio-stars. I have a 2in GT (most likely male) in my 20gal and a 2in Ornate Bichir in a 10gal quarentine tank. I plan on putting them both in my 60gal once I finish getting it ready and cycling it. I already know my Ornate will grow quite large reaching 12in within a year, but slowing down after that. I plan on either selling him or like everyone else says UPGRADE my tank later down the line. I was planning on adding ditcher fish such as Rainbow fish, Congo Tetras, Giant Danios, or maybe Denison Barbs (expensive I know). Now my question is can I add anything else to the tank? I was debating on getting a GT or JD for the 60gal at first and decided on the GT, but now I kinda want a JD (EBJD especially). I probably already know the answer to this question already I just want someone else to tell me lOl. If not a EBJD maybe a Firemouth or Salvini? If I could Id upgrade my tank already but my parents already think I have too many aquariums in the house at the moment, so this might have to be their home for another year or so until I graduate and move out....FINALLY!

Any input would be appreciated and I already have my flame suite on so....:FIREdevil

Taking a break from my project for school, I decide to take some photos of my tank

Tank with single 48in light. I will upgrade once I get the funds.

I know people are probably going to say your maxed out but o say go for it... You will be lucky to find a gt over 8 or 9 inches and same with the ebjd not to mention they both grow rather slow... Go for it

Looks great. I would think the EBJD will get bullied bt the GT.

That tank lost alot of volume and width with that backround so dont go crazy with stock. Looks to be less than 10" wide now.

If my memory serves me correctly my tank dimensions are 48x16x18. After creating the background I realized I should have used a 1/2in instead of 1in styrofoam. I probably loss just over an inch maybe 2in at most.

Thanks for your responses guys! Any opinions positive or negative will be appreciated

I think you could do maybe even 2 salvini. I had a sal with my gt and they did fine. They are a bit smaller but I have heard of male sals still hitting 7". I would go more of the salvini or firemouth route instead of Jd. JD's would get along fine but for space, you would be better having your Gt as the center piece fish and a couple smaller ones to compliment it. So something like your Gt, your bichers, and 2 sal, firemouth, or convicts even would probably be a good fit for awhile.

Good luck and great looking tank by the way! Looking forward to seeing it completed.

GT, Convict, and a Sal.

Thanks for the input guys!

Ill keep everyone posted as the weeks pass and I add to the tank. I might just get either a FM or Salvini, havent decided yet, but Ill post pics as the tank develops. If anyone still wishes to provide advice or opinion it is welcome!
