Opinions on 60gal tank setup

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Quick update, Ive put some driftwood in the tank and I have some stones sitting in a bucket of water making sure they do not alter my PH. Next up will be the plants!

i personally would not add anything except for maybe a school of high-bodied tetras, i think everything is too up in the air and you really dont know when you will be able to get a larger tank so i would play it safe and just stock the tank as if theyr in it for life and then later when you get a larger tank you can add more fish then, you could POSSIBLY get away with maybe adding a single male con, but i wouldnt add a salvini, personally my GTs in the past havent really been that aggressive so i think a salvini would actually pick on him unless you get a particularly mean specimen but even then a sal will mature and be mean at a small size than a GT will, your already pushing it with the bichir as you know so i really wouldnt add anything but the tetras personally just to add some more activity to the tank and make the GT feel more comfortable while hes little

Looks good! I guess if it were me and you wanted the GT, I gotta agree with Sarah. I would add your GT and then some tetra or giant danio. A small school of em looks pretty cool. I have a few with texas, red devil, and sals and the danio are left alone. Your Gt will get big enough eventually he will probably need most the tank to himself. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to the finished product.

After setting up the tank last night I realized it really isnt that BIG lOl. I will just keep the GT and bichir and some sort of schooling fish. Thanks for the input, more pics will be up after I add some rock work and plant decor.

Its 3:24am here and I just got home from school (studying for finals :() but as promised I finished my tank early last night and let the filter run for over 24hrs. I might make a few more changes here and there but for the most part I think the tank is done. All i need is to cycle the tank within the next few weeks and then add the fish.

looks SWEET, will look awesome once you have some size on that GT, do you know what kind of tetras your going to use? i really like serpae tetras their nice red color would look sweet with that black sand too, and they are higher bodied so will be longer before the GT can make a snack out of them lol, sometimes the chain stores even have sales where alot of the tetras are on sale for a buck a piece, thats when i got mine when i had a nice school of serpaes lol,

and yeah i know what you mean about those finals man, i actually just got done with all mine so im just being lazy for a couple days and resting up after only getting about 4hrs sleep every night for a week lol GOOD LUCK on yours!
