This thing WILL NOT sink lol. I zip tied slate to the legs and that did nothing. Finally, I put this huge rock on one leg just so I could get the lid closed.
I had a piece I found in the lake in my 75 for months. I had to pry it down with rocks just like you are doing. When I moved I removed one of the rocks and the thing went flying towards the top of the tank, it still wasn't water logged. It can take a while.

Thanks! I was very lucky to find such a nice piece just lying on the ground by the water. It was a pain to get it ready but it was free!

Oh wow! Months! Thanks, I'm very pleased with it so far. I guess I could zip tie the plants on now? I'm just stuck with this rock out of place for a long time. I'm going to try to find a nifty idea other than this rock. I don't think slate is going to cut it plus I don't want this rock to somehow fall and break my glass. That would be a nightmare.
Okay, so I thought of a different method that will have to do for now. I got left over black air tubing and tied it to 2 large rocks. I'll tie on the plants later.
Before I put this in I thought "Oh this is heavy, it won't float." Yeah right!
Yeah I've had similar experiences. It'll happen though! Cool piece!
