Ordering New 440/480 any advice?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This was a tank I was going to purchase, I was sharing the info for another member who posted on the thread here for their benefit, I didn’t purchase it personally, my understanding is they did replace the tank for that customer and now have this laying around.

mine will be 30” - going through 33”slider ?...

costs 1/3 more than FTD but , support local or so they say....

Thanks for the info. Im anywhere near ready to make the purchase as there's too much to plan.
That would be a tempting offer if they still guaranteed it like a regular tank.

How did you go about researching companies for installation? That's gonna be my biggest hurdle.

i called most of the LFs’s in my area, only two offered to help. I called 5 movers and only one kinda sketchy place said they could move it, then it’s the deal of your paying 5 dudes $270 hr , leveling tank, doing plumbing, before tank gets into place, this route takes stress away so it adds value for me...

good luck!

Thanks for info. I have the added complication of the current tank being where the new one would go. Would be much easier if new tank would be going in a new spot as I could get it all setup.and then transfer fish over.

I'll be following your thread to see how things play out. Please keep us updated.

Looks like 3100gph ea -

2” drains,

how will I calculate head pressure loss?

10%? It would still be 5580gph? = 9.3x’s per hour?

Although the Echotech pumps are wi-fi capable, you will need the reeflink controller for connectivity. That's an additional $100. The selling points for the pumps are good for reef tanks where you can control flow patterns for corals. They are certainly not the best value, but there are other points for compatibilty with Ecotech battery power supply for additional costs, aside from benefits of DC pumps in general.

I have the L1 and understand that it's not for everyone. I had some issues after 2 years, but would consider it again.

Late to the thread. I got a 8x4x30in from FTD and it was 3/4in acrylic. After lots of research I stayed away from a sump. I run an ultima and 2 corner HMF filters. Filter maintenance is insanely easy but I’m also under stocked. The pumps heat the water too so I barely run the heaters. I also have a 50gpd drip.

Pics!

I need to figure out the drip system, never done one... and run plumbing to the stack.
