One piece of advice is that you need to decide how much time you have to maintain the tank. The bigger the tank the more the maintenance. I have two small children so decided I didn’t want high maintenance. Hence the reason an ultima with backflush, and HMF filters. It’s also why my tank is bare bottom. I’m also understocked because my tank only has a single aimara.

My maintenance is 5 min to backflush the ultima and cleaning algae. I’ll have to clean the HMF filters eventually but it’s been 1.5years and they are still good.

Not sure if I missed it, but have you decided on what time of overflow you are going to use? at close to 6000 gph, will you be using 2x 2" siphons ? in a bean animal type of overflow?

Yea, he’s doing herbie, It’s a local builder doing it all, center internal overflow box.

2” drains - two vectra l2 3100gph pumps

It should be done any day now.... It’s been more than 60 days...

Do you know how many 2" siphons ?

Builder states 3 weeks...

I went through and re read all this,

Seems pacu mom and I thought one other thought less than 10x turnover was ok.

I’ve had to I suppose aggressively state to builder multiple times i want a 10x turnover

Builder seems to think 1.5” drains to 180g sump are enough,

He did buy smaller pumps (m2 / 2000 gph) for some reason... I told him we needed l2 (ecotech) 3200gph.

So... hopefully that gives me 8.5x turnover.

Also getting two of the mp40qd - wave makers... does this add to effect this 10x turnover rate?

Did you end up going 440gallon? 8.5x turnover requires ~3800gph. If it were me I would at least go with the L2. You may want to get a rough idea of what your head pressure will be not just based on height, but horizontal, vertical and turns if you use PVC.

Keep in mind what I had mentioned prior about your weir teethe being a limiting factor to flow. I really dont know factually how much wave makers would increase turn over. It defintely would help circulation in your tank.
