My ornate is an @ss as well. He killed a smaller gold dust and beat up a sen. Mine has problems with smaller polys anythi g close to his size or bigger hes ok with. I think your right abkut the agreession. Anytime one of my poly were getting picked on they would hover at the surface of the water

im kicking myself for not just removing it yesterday... Ill have to get a grow out tank because i dont want to risk it again...

Sorry man that sucks. I felt the same way. It was really my fault. The forst time it happenexld I just had hip surgery and wasnt able to get him out in time.
Now i have a bigger endli with him and hes knocked back down to reality. Maybe you just need to keep his tankmates at or close to his size
