Hey all

It is never a dull momment in the fish hobby. My ornate's tail is floating. It is dragging him up. He tries to position himself inder the driftwood to stay down.

Water parameters are as they should be. 0,0,40. Temp 80. pH 7.8

He is eating everything including pellets.

Any ideas?

Thx

Eddie

eddiegunks eddiegunks :sounds like bloat to me as well. Can you post a pic or video?

For the epsom salt, want to say it is 1tsp per 5 gallons.....but other members will confirm.

What is the diet like? How much/often are you feeding? How long has the ornates tail been floating?

Might also suggest lowering the water level to a comfortable level, so he/she can rest instead of putting itself under the driftwood/stressing out.

magpie magpie clm08k clm08k you guys got this covered:)

Just wanna add dose epsom salt twice a day, one in the morning and one at night then do water change the next day, donit 3 days straight with no feeding.

If you have a small qt tank that its easier to WC it will be better.

How often you feed the ornate?

Thx. He eats all the time as he is in a community tank right now. Anything that is not immediately eaten by the other fish. He is 4-5 inches. He eats a variety of pellets, algae wafers, ms, etc etc.

He is in a 60 gallon tank right now. This is new today.

I will pull him out and get him into a qt tank.

Thx

Eddie

Remember Epsom salt is a one time dose. Don't redose with water changes. Couple days in the tank should be enough. clm08k clm08k dose needs to be adjusted to a 1tbsp per 5 g.

Ok. Got it. I'll add some more in the am. 1tbsp/5g. Leave him in for 3 days, then water change?

Thx

That should be fine. Just make sure you check the water before changing. That's all.
