In a 125 the only large fish I’d consider is the Oscar, you can leave them in the 55 no problem while the larger tank cycles.
What size should I take him out? and as for 180?In a 125 the only large fish I’d consider is the Oscar, you can leave them in the 55 no problem while the larger tank cycles.
Non cichlid specific but anything that would look good and be compatible in there alongside the Oscar w good interactions or none at all!By 6-8 inches I’d be looking for an upgrade, but no problems doing so sooner.
In a 180 I still wouldn’t do anything as large, but extra medium sized cichlids could be okay.

I assume if the chasing was hostile the EBJD would have shown signs of depression, damage, or much hiding but he doesn’t! I think the O just has a lot of energy and plays rough! Let me know if a fire mouth or another med sized cichlid would be good for the community!I’ve noticed the O and the Jack will be fine near eachother in the morning and at night but anytime after feedings the O chases him around a lot and I even saw him bothering the raph. Since they will see a bigger tank is this a sign to get one more guy so his chasing of the Jack will be spread between the two so the Jack can rest, or prepare to seperate him and keep him alone. The chases aren’t life threatening as he never peruses at full speed and doesn’t attempt biting, so perhaps with one more guy in there the chasing will be spread. I was thinking of a fire mouth to be around the same as as the EBJD once full grown and he will come in around the same size or a tad bigger than the Jack. Jack is around 1-1.5 and the O around 2.5 but much chunkier.

Parrots wouldn’t be too docile? I was aware jacks were agro but not that the EB were practically semi docile. Severum would be pretty cool too!I mean, if you are going to eventually upgrade, you could get a Severum or a Parrot if you want. Firemouths probably wouldn't be a good idea, plus they need more than one.
