thats the crazy thing about nature....... stuff gets eaten, however with aquaria it is the owners responsibility to ensure the things within your "environment" dont eat other things unless it is that persons intent....

that being said if it was me i would attempt to allow it to pull through but the first sign of an inability to live a relatively normal life I would send him to davy jones locker.

but i have no direct interest in oscars.

BDerick, your outward show of closed-mindedness, arrogance, and flat-out lack of intelligence floors me. You call the OP selfish and a bad fishkeeper because he wants to give an injured animal a chance at having a future. If the fish was doomed to die slowly and painfully, then euthanasia is the best option, but for a fish that is toughing it out and making a comeback... who are you to say wether or not it lives, ESPECIALLY when it isnt even your fish?

Don't put words in my mouth you little :lipsseale. I never said the was "a bad fishkeeper" I only question his fish keeping abilities because of what he believes is a thriving fish. Anyone else believe this is a thriving fish? You seem to be able to read, but lack in comprehension of what your reading. IMO he is being selfish and not doing right thing for the fish. IMO the fish is dying slowly and painfully. This forum is in place for me to express my opinion, yes even if it is not my fish.

Aye tis true, we all have our opinions. However, as stated, OP has decided to keep it so let's focus on helping him and support him, yah?

Failing that, those who don't want to know just keep away from the thread. ^_^

I'm not trying to start anything again here, just want the back and forth argument to die and focus on helping OP out.

pphh your silly thats not what this site does..it puts people down..and screams at them for making there own choices ^_^

OP good luck with him i would love to see a video!!
here is my poor cripple..man i wish i listened to every one who said to put her down ..she is suffering so much now..with being faster than her male..beating the curd out of him and swimming just fine..such a tragedy..
really wish I had listened ..

not...my fish is healthy and happy and lots of people said she would never live a normal happy life and would always struggle...they were wrong..just saying.

I remember these exact same arguments when this Convict was picked up, now it's looking great. I'm glad that some people don't give into peer pressure and put down injured fish that others aren't willing to give a chance.

looks like a short body con...

real short.

amazing the ability to adapt... like armless people or that half a woman i saw on maury

Well in that case, if you really were only looking out for what you see as the best for the fish, I apologize for saying what I said in the manner that I did. But if the fish is doing the best with its situation, and moving around and eating, then why put it down, if it could live to and past adulthood? I dont think fish can percieve quality of life. It's not like they can say "man this sucks, I wish I could go back to before this happened". It'll just instictually try to survive through anything, and if a fish is eating and moving around and showing no signs of stress or pain, I'd call that thriving, given the situation.

I don't think will survive.:(

Based on what? Have you read any of this thread? The fish is swimming and eating fine. He's been like this since last Saturday so today is day 9.. . The op has even stated the wound has begun to heal Where do you come up with the conclusion he won't survive?

Time to post up that video you took of it dude
