What is considered "ok" in your eyes? Under 10ppm? Under 20ppm? Under 40ppm? "Ok" doesn't help much lol

All the numbers it read with the color codes were what they were supposed to be for cichlids on the legend they give you

If I had another stick I could get the exact numbers but I plan on buying the master liquid test kit Thursday

Personally I try to keep my nitrates as low as possible.

Like pops, I also use an API freshwater "master" kit, it's cheap (considering the price of some kits) and fairly accurate as well.

I test my water before and after each change. If the test after the change says the nitrate is above 10ppm, I'll do another large change the next day to "reset" it to zero. This normally happens every six weeks or so on my big tank with my current WC schedule and a little less frequently on the smaller ones as they're not stocked as heavily.

Good luck with your oscar. :)

15 percent water changes once a week
pops pops knows his oscars, maybe he will chime in.

15% a week on a 20gal with an oscar sounds a little on the low side. Try aiming for 40% weekly or higher if you can. Especially while he's still growing. :)
A pick would help. not going to bull crap you, 15% water change is not near enof once a week. again pics help. but def sounds stunted, not by tank size but water quality. any HITH?
+100.....I always did 60%-70% WC weekly, but after lots of discussions w/ pops pops and some other members, it's not uncommon for me to do a 80%-90% weekly nowadays

That answer is incorrect, the answer should not be "words:, it should be NUMBERS. Any other answer is marked "incorrect"
I use and prefer the API Master Fresh Water Test Kit, test strips are not very accurate.
I don't really even use it but that's exactly what I got a few months ago when you guys said I should at least "OWN one". I agree, test strips are garbage - everytime I do a quick-check to compare my readings to Petco/Petsmart, their strips always read differently than my High PH Master SW test kit (I already have a regular PH test kit from before)
Something definitely doesn.'t look right about him.....
