I'd go with the 5 inch dovii. With enough hiding places it would survive and catch up in size in no time
Catching it would be an issue. It would be like a 777 chasing a stunt plane.I’ve never actually seen a 15 inch Oscar, my two oscars are both over 10 years old and even my largest one only pushes 13. And he is over 15 years old. I think the OP is just guessing the length.
But your totally right, he could wreak havoc on a shy type Dovii at 5 inches. Just depends, my Oscars, if they can’t eat it in the first 5 minutes of being in the tank. They just give up and ignore it lol. I have a 2 inch Carpintis in with my two oscars right now lol

U just gotta love oscars lolLol that’s exactly right. You can almost see the tiredness in their face. “ screw this we are too old for this crap. Give us that food that drops in our faces instead.”
I must see him. Pics please!
so i went with the 5in dovii, i think i forgot to mention that the oscar is mostly blind, bastard can barely see a thing but he is good at sensing motion so im not concerned about him harassing the dovii. it was part of the reason he had such a nice setup for just him, my lfs got him in after someone had to take their tank down, and since he was this huge (length of my forearm) partially blind, 13 year old oscar they wanted him to have a good tank to live out the rest of his life and since i had this empty 500g they gave him to me for free.
the dovii is getting moved out in a few months, even if the dovii realised hes blind (not sure if thats even a thing) the oscar still outweighs him by about 10x. the oscar can also can sense motion well enough to keep track of him, he actually tore open the bag i was acclimating the dovii in because he could tell something was in there. So you put a mostly blind oscar with a 5" dovii? Eventually the oscar is going to lose out once the dovii realizes how blind it is.
