Pond looks awesome! Bet the Oscar loves it, I am very jealous to be honest. If I had that pond it would be full of cichlids.
he has a thick layer of algae on his shell so when he sunbathes it dries out and gets brittle, then when he gets back in sometimes he scrapes it against the cinderblocks/rocks and it scrapes off.
some time next year im going to expand it another 6 feet and put an arrowana in there.
part of me is tempted to after i expand it try some payara, i can get some pretty intense water flow in there but that would be an expensive experiment.
I tried to keep dovii in a 1500 gallon pond with other cichlids. The only fish the dovii didn't kill, or try to kill are fish that weren't a threat. I put a large male flowerhorn in with a 8" male dovii. I had to remove the flowerhorn after 20 minutes. I think a divider is the way to go.
