75G minimum for life seems to be the general consensus.

75 would be comfy but 1 oscar could live in a 55. Thing is, most of them like a friend to hang with. On very large tanks you can get 1 fish per 40 gallons with proper filtration.

Also it will depend on how much extra is in the tank. Decorations and substrate.

Its the new batch of fry from my tiger pair. theres some pics of parents in my gallery.
unfortunately I don't have enough time recently to raise them. I had to sell the whole bunch for only $20.
