Welcome to MFK!

Everything sounds fine but the flowerhorn for a long term goal. Ive NEVER heard any success stories of 10+ inch flowerhorns living in a community, so watch out.

I was browsing the classifieds here on MFK and when you said you were looking for a tank, I remembered this group of tanks for sale in Miami

heres a pic of the biggest one for $400 friggin bucks...even has a glass divider (removable) to separate problem fish. Wish it was closer.

8-foot - 96"L x 24"W x 25"H w/ 1/2" thick glass

^^He should be all over that one! He's a lot closer than me. I live 6 hours away but that tank is worth the drive. That's a great deal. I hope the OP can snag it before its gone. The stand worries me a bit though. It doesn't seem...big enough for the tank.

VWRC,

A couple of people have noted this flowerhorn seems to be a unique one so far. (S)He has a slimmer profile than most. There is some speculation the two fish used to create this hybrid may not be *as* aggressive, though I will definitely keep my eye out for too much aggression. The great thing about an 8' tank is, if (s)he does get too fiesty, I will just wall him/her off with a divider. The flowerhorn was the last added, so we will see long term.

To that end, the flowerhorn is coming out of it's shell. It has found a corner of the tank to "own" :-) and it is shooing everyone out of it's corner as it sees fit.

The blood parrot and the flowerhorn have more heated confrontations so far. The oscars don't care what they other two, they just look at them like "whatever" :-)

no scars, no wounds so far.

As far as the tank you showed me. He has already contacted me. I too am worried about the stand, and I don't care for how much (12" of length) of space is being wasted by the overflow. In fact, I don't want overflow. I want 100% tank space for the fish, and I will use typical canister filters.

Cheers,

J

Cool. Well good luck with it then. Hopefully it will work out for you.

As far as the tank goes...I wouldnt by any means think that was a stand for it. I was under the assumption that was just there to hold it for the pic, but I didnt read the whle listing so maybe he said it was the stand. Regardless, Id get a proper stand for it and be done with it. I did read where the glass was removable so you dont have to use it for overflow and 2 $15 bulkheads will block those holes and youll have the tank as you want it.
