I no they grow faster i was just making a point

And why did u say my water volume is prbly not over 130????

The volume of the tubs are usually measured if filled with water to the rim. That aint going to happen when you keep fish in it so I was just guessing around 130.

I think retics grow faster then 1" a year though.

My retics have grown 2-3" in maybe 6 months?

People probably just think they grow slow because they aren't meeting conditions or the ray is sick..

Similar to those "slow growing" Clown Loaches.. funny my Clown Loaches have doubled in size in about 6mo., faster than I've ever seen them grow. But I do feed them like rays, they get a diet of high protein seafoods and primarily pelletized foods. The pelleted food I have taught them how to 'vacuum' up and swallow like pills, and they have full bellies every feedings, just like a ray. Hardly any competition and tankmates, too..

Put a Clown loach in a community tank and let it "sift for scraps" and get a weekly cube of bloodworms and allow them to fight over a shrimp pellet here or there, they will be 'slow growers'..

Put a Retic Ray in a community tank and let it "compete for food" and get a daily cube of bloodworms and allow them to fight over shrimp with a catfish here and there.. they will be 'slow growers', too..

What r u feeding your retics then miles.
Im feeding bloodworms and earthworms
PS: i do have a clown loach that does grow fast also

Krill.. and occasionally red wigglers and black worms.

I usually feed krill in the evening, and then give them black worms right before bed to "top them off".. make sure their stomachs are HUGE before lights out.. and then I do syphoning of poop in the morning, and it starts all over again.

They won't any other seafood for me (well Mysis shrimp, but it makes a mess).. they do eat bloodworms, makes a mess, no nutrition. The red wigglers they used to love, over the krill.. but now they only eat them if they are hungry. They are all about the krill, and ever since I switched them over to bare-bottom they are eating even more vigorously.. They will climb the glass and snatch the krill from the water line before it has time to thaw out and break up..

:D

I think good nutrition is really important to growth and health.. sad story, my big male got heater burn the other day (forgot I switched tanks but didn't take out the glass heater, duhr).. anyways, it healed up and is almost non-existent in like 3-4 days.. he didn't even act like anything happened.. I think if he was eating a lower protein diet (ie: bloodworms) it would of taken a few weeks to heal..

Ok i just have a hard time switching the food like earthworms took about 3 weeks.
But ill try krill

Well iv given some though and i think ill just do the aro and rays because rays are my true love so what ever is not good for then or not benifical i wont
So im looking around for suggestions on the type of ray im thinking about getting a motoro from stingrayguy because i have talked to him alot but a retic and mototo would be it right?

A motoro will quickly out grow and possibly out compete a retic for food. Saying that Ive seen in person an 8" retic out compete a 20" motoro! It was actually funny to watch.
