Well that fine garnet sand was sticking to everyone and it got old real quick. So i went back to my black and flourite mix and it looks so much better. My lap and teug are already getting their great patterns back. And this may have nothing to do with my nitrite but when all of these same fish plus two gar were in here my params were damn near perfect. So idk if bacteria can grow(?) better with this more coarse sand or what. Maybe its just a coincidence but i guess we will see

Shame you had to get rid of fish. Sorry to hear it man. I would still consider a sump so you can expand in the future. A jebao dc 9000 would work well. Its adjustable, so you could tweak it to get the flow you needed. I bought two of the newer dct 12000s for the 300g and expect that they will be overkill.

I'm glad you kept the lap and teug. Both exceptional specimens. Especially that lap.

Thanks man, i could never get rid of those two. I am still wanting to get a sump on it though. Tested the water today and everything looks great, no more nitrite and no ammonia. Im going to take some in to work with me just to confirm it. But i got a new fish today so the peacock bass went to my 150 with the polys (i am pretty positive hes big enough to not be bothered. Got this guy for $20 listed as a redtail barracuda. But im guessing it is a yellow tail seeing that it... well it has a yellow tail. I was so tempted to buy the payara that they had but knew that would be a bad idea. They also said the cuda is eating krill so hopefully he will eat krill for me. Hes very skinny and i need to put some weight on him.

Well the barracuda died within two hours of being in my tank, another member here said they are very sensitive and stress out easy. I feel bad. But these emptyish tanks are bothering me so i picked up two new additions today. First being a white saum ("false" green terror with white fins instead of orange) and a fire eel. The eel is going in with my dats, clown loaches, plecos and arowana and the saum is in with my gp pleco, senegals and lapradei growout. It should be fun watching these guys grow (may be a long time for the terror but hopefully i can be patient)

I had a mated pair of false green terrors for years. They killed every other cichlid in the tank while I was asleep one night. Very beautiful fish. Hopefully you got a male. They look amazing when they get bigger.

I had a female a while back in with my pike cichlid, they chased each other around all the time but no damage was ever done. This will be the only cichlid in that tank most likely. Hopefully its a male, i picked out the largest of the batch and looked for markings that indicated a male but its definitely too small to be sure. Im very impatient when it comes to slow growers though lol. Hell by the time hes big enough to become a bully my polys will probably be big enough to go in with my others lol. But nonetheless they are gorgeous when they get big.

Picked up a betta for both rachel and i. We were bored and had two empty 5 gallons lol. Mine is the blue/red and hers is the red. They seem to be much happier in tanks haha.

What do you know. Mr endli jumped out AGAIN. This is getting really old. I wish i knew what to do with him. Literally my whole top is covered. Getting a little nitrite again. Idk what else to do with this tank. Hes to beat and nasty looking to trade in anywhere. Hes my only poly that has ever given me a problem. Idk where all of these nitrites are coming from. 20% WC everyday, IMO there is plenty of filtration and my stock is low in my eyes. I cut back feedings a lot and do every other day with less food than before. All my polys seem to be on hunger strike. Im about to throw in the towl on this tank and just do africans or something. I cant keep coming home to him on the floor, im supposed to enjoy my tanks not get stressed out from them. He actually ate yesterday and everything. Everyone else in the tank is perfectly fine.
