Well my big ray(17 inch disc) always likes to swim up the sides to the top but now he added a twist. He figured out how to splash water and make an incredible gurgling sound when he gets to the top of the tank. Now its even worse two of the Motoros have joined him.I am afraid all 6 rays will be doing this soon.Is this normal? They are in a big square shaped tank of 450 gallons and only ever seem to use half the tank at best. They mostly just all stay at the front of the tank and be obnoxious like begging puppies..Does anyone else have rays like this?

That's interesting. I haven't seen anything like that myself. I've noticed that ray behavior is very different from that of other fish. They seem to have a higher level of intelligence. They may be trying to tell you something! What that could be, I haven't the foggiest!

I have a ray that does a lot of awimming into one corner. I think he has a parasite. I haven't figured out to do about him. Mainly, I am disabled because I burned my had at work so I can't really check for too much in the tank. I've been talking with Patrick Williams at www.amazonstingrays.com. Try his contact, he is a breeder. And, if you have any ideas about a black spot (parasite on the underside of a ray, let me know, thanks.

Ive seen plenty of rays do this for various reasons. Sometimes they simply like to play, or they might be begging for food, or the water quality is bad. Take your pick!

Um, I'll take playing rays for $500 Alex.

well the water is so perfect i would drink it,lol

do you think the current is too strong???I have two fx5s plumbed in system and they are making a real current.Or maybe they just like to swim in the current. The tank in 4.5x4.5 x 30inch.The current is a big circle.

I think they got a hold of the picture of you in the tank and now they are begging you to join them.

The only thing that concerns me is that they are hanging out near the top which coud be a sign of low oxygen levels. But if they are eating well and otherwise active I wouldn't be too concerned.
