yes i believe them to be just very happy.

they don't hang on the top just swim up to the top splash around and then back down.

i also have an air tower.

Is it just me or does it take a long time to prepare foods?

take me 4 minutes to thaw and peel my shrimp.... i stick it in a bowl turn the cold tapwater on and let it flow... do the same for silversides smelts etc...

It takes me 15 min a day to prepare food :(
i don't think your current is to strong at all i used to have 2 baracuda pumps on a 480 it was like a tidal zone in there and never had a problem
this is normal happy behavior

Nic do you feed worms at all?

I spend 30 minutes a day cutting washing worms, thawing, peeling cutting shrimp, and then theres the maintenance of black worms.

well the water is so perfect i would drink it,lol

do you think the current is too strong???I have two fx5s plumbed in system and they are making a real current.Or maybe they just like to swim in the current. The tank in 4.5x4.5 x 30inch.The current is a big circle.

Do they stop for a while, if you feed them..?

I have 6 rays as well and only two like to swim the sides of the tank front and back. The rest dig all the gravel in the front and back of the tank and pile it in the middle. It looks like the swim laps around the parameter all day. Feeding takes me about 5 minutes. I buy a package of shrimp, cut it up, and then store a days worth in zip lock bags for the freezer. Every morning I go to work I stick a pack in the fridge and when I get home I run some water over it to fully thaw it. Every other day I feed them worms along with the shrimp too much work to do it every day.

yes they stop after feeding for a short time.

I think they are trying to get out. Not because the tank is to small. But its small compared to the amazone river. And it looks like rays are on a constant move in the wild. Would explain why they swim up the glass.
