out of controle rays.

When I had a bubble curtain, one of my rays used to play in the bubbles at the top all day. The other one didn't seem to care about the bubbles but occaisionaly would swim up the front glass. Rays really have cool behaviour.

nightcrawlers are good nutrition... i prefer the african night crawlers... but after getting a parasites in my rays i wont feed them.. id rather feed foods i know are clean and not take the risk... ive been lucky and can get everything but my wide bars to eat what ever i want them to eat.. just me though feed as you like but i dont trust worms anymore.... i plan on raising african night crawlers later on in the future under serious controlled conditions to keep them clean and to use as food with live crayfish but this wont be for a long time...

I'm not sure what to think. I had a ray doing a lot of swimming into a corner (no current) and then he stopped eating because of a parasite and died. Now, the other, healthier, parasite free ray is swimming around the sides and "jumping out of water." I checked everything and I only have a little bit more nitrate than I prefer. I syphoned and am waiting to change the diaper as it were. I'm not sure if it is just a matter of searching for food fr this last ray because the ghost shrimp blend into the silicone sidings and bubble deposits very well. I'm always surprised to see a last of the mohicans wandering around on the sandbed while a stingray stalks it.

Really, I have no idea why the rays have followed in line to the activity. Do my rays hate me and commit suicide? One left, maybe a curse will be lifted.

I think they might just be playing. My Leopoldi does all kind of stuff and he's super active, never still. For example he moves rocks, he swims on top of the rock, puts the disk on each side of the rock and pushes it out of the way. He has moved a 5 inch rock 16 inches.
Rays are intelligent fishes, and I think they need activation, just like most pet mammals (dogs, cats and even pigs).

I have a ray that does a lot of awimming into one corner. I think he has a parasite. I haven't figured out to do about him. Mainly, I am disabled because I burned my had at work so I can't really check for too much in the tank. I've been talking with Patrick Williams at www.amazonstingrays.com. Try his contact, he is a breeder. And, if you have any ideas about a black spot (parasite on the underside of a ray, let me know, thanks.

I had a SW Yellow Ray with flukes. THey look like black dots like some sort of lice. They were on the top though. I put him in a container and treated him Prazi Pro. THey instantly fell off and the ray tolerated it extremely well. However they could still be living in the substate. Rays are one of those species where it pays to Quarantine before adding to the maintank. I had corals so didnt want to treat the main taink. I guess you could treat a FW tank With prazi pro its cheap doesnt seem to impact biological filtration. Good Luck.
