Anyone ever think of getting out of the hobby? Just been on my mind lately.

Maybe it's not the hobby you need out of... Maybe you just need a break from the internet.. You are like a big red destruct button and all of the people that don't like you.. Well they push it repeatedly ;) And You self destruct.... And even if it is not visible on the forum they all know that you imploded or exploded on the other side of the screen;)
It's become quite comical and sad at the same time...

After watching all the arguments you've been in over several boards and your reactions it is easy to see why you would regrettably want to leave an awesome hobby..

I really think it is your internet time and reactions that is the problem.. Take a break from the internet and buying and selling and remember you have a HOBBY ;)

I took a month off from fish forums.... Maybe it wasn't long enough. But my whole perspective changed. I get in much less arguments and I sell less of the fish I buy... Anytime you buy and sell regardless of profit or non profit a hobby can get old.. And in fact turn into non hobby and more addiction causing issues like the ones I perceive you to be having the last month ;)

Just take a break come back renewed.. Or what ever you have to do.. In my opinion it is the online people that are involved in your private hobby that is YOUR problem.. And the way you react visibly and non visibly to this ;)

Just a suggestion and for emphasis TAKE A BREAK FROM THE INTERNET!! ;) The hobby was there before the fish forum... Never had a problem til I had to deal with all the bull online ;)

remember those days.. When fish were fish !! And everyone and their LAME what size is your tank questions even though they kept Oscars in 20's were not around ??? ;)

You know how to take care of your fish... And your fish know how to settle you down as long as you pay attention to them... O

:D Only about 2 or 3 of his fish are on my hit list! Fish that you would not know about unless you've seen his collection in person.:naughty:

You sure you can afford his stock bro? :ROFL:j/k

How do you know i havent seen it :naughty:

There is some of your stock i would still like to get my hands on that I have never seen....

I am absolutely sure that I cannot afford his or yours... dedication through sacrifice... :nilly:

I feel like I owe you an apology for my response: I hate to make myself out to be a vulture waiting to swoop in at the first sign of weakness... Sorry about that.

Heres the thing, if you are considering taking a break, or walking away totally make sure that you are making your decisions for the right reasons and that it is what YOU want.

to share my experience: i had a small breakdown earlier this month when i lost 4 of my favorite fish** after moving them (2 of them I had picked up from you). Losing fish always makes me feel like I shouldnt be doing this anymore and that I should give it up. After I gave it some thought I came to the conclusion that leaving the hobby wasnt going to make me feel better or fix anything, in the end I resolved to become more diligent and pay more attention to detail

sooooo, without knowing the details of your situation the best thing i can tell you is that you should take your time and consider all aspects before making a decision.

and should you decide to take a break know that there is a community here ready to help you re-home your pets :D

I do everytime I am about to make a serious purchase, to make sure it's still worth it to me. I realized the reason the first time I considered getting out of it was only because I was upgrading so fast that I never was able to take the time to enjoy what I allready had, as soon as I did that, it became worth it once more.

Agreed

I don't think about quitting since I treat my fish as pets and are part of the family just like my dog. I don't even think of it as a hobby.

for me i have pet fishes and fishes that i buy on impulse and end up selling. I never sell pet fishes.
