overflow/sump issue

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
And what I don't get is the water level is low and if I add more water the sump just fills up more and the water level goes back down to where it was before.

"if you want the waterleve in your tank higher, you have to rebuild your overflow"

Or lift it up to the correct height.

First I have to get it to stop priming. I'm going destroy the pump if I don't. I don't know if it'd just the check valve or what. The poor fish in there have to be going crazy. What are you guys using as "screens". I already had to scoop one fish out of the sump.

stop priming? it only primes once. im not sure what youre talking about there.

for the screen, i use a couple of cross sections from an eggcrate diffuser.

like this.

What do you mean by "I have to get it to stop priming"? Is the pump getting air?

You can get some intake screens like these http://www.jehmco.com/html/bulkhead_fittings.html (about halfway down)

Sorry, I guess I didn't use the right terminology. I got the water level right, but the overflow keeps dieing after 10 mines or so. I'm not sure if airs getting in it or not. I guess my first solution is to get a new check valve?

It's done, it's been running for the last hour. It sure is loud though. It's making a very mild sucking sound every few minutes. I've adjusted the check valve a little bit but if I close it anymore the flow is too slow. The water running into the sump is pretty loud. I may have to add more water too it to quiet it down.
